Anyone have a "guide" on porting certain PC games over to the PSP? There is no English version of Utawarerumono on the PSP so I want to try porting it over.

(even though I have no clue how to do any of that)

Homebrew your psp to play pc games and downsize the exe. (i could be completely wrong on this, because I'm guessing this could work)

I very much doubt you could play any modern PC games on a PSP.

The hardware is completely different and I'm quite sure you'd need an emulator, so you'd be stuck with Win 95 games (if you're lucky).

If one had the source code to a VN, one could perhaps port it with some programming knowledge, but I doubt it would be worth it.

EDIT: Listen to the siscon; he speaks wisdom

  3. Modern PC games as in something like Crysis? Of course not, but games like Touhou and I'm sure VNs and eroges can be ported over.

Edit: just saw that there is a psp utawarerumono already, which means the game can run on it. You could try to get that version and replace the data archives with the english ones, though it's unlikely that it supports western text formatting

Sounds simple enough, I'll try that.

No, not just games like Crysis. Even 2D games from 10 years ago will run into problems.

These things need a windows environment to run ('cept the PSP Utawarerumono, but I think that has no porn). Even if the games themselves have few requirements, emulating Windows will bring a PSP to a screeching halt. You might be able to play Minesweeper or Solitaire on Win95 without problems, or one of the PC98 Touhou games, but that's probably it. I don't think anyone has even managed to emulate PCB on a PSP.

  5. Another n00bish tech question from yours truly.

I'm thinking about buying a TV for my bedroom, so I can play Xbox without interuptions from people wanting to use the downstairs TV.

However I've never had to buy a TV before so have no idea what I'm doing. I'm looking for a TV under £100, but if I can get one under £80 that'd be even better.

I've been looking and have seen a few that seem okay, but I've run into a problem. On my current TV I have my Xbox connected via "Composite AV Cable" as shown in the image below.

This is how I'd like my Xbox to be connected to any new TV I buy.

However when I look at the details on the websites, it never tells me whether the TV has A/V ports. Is this 'cause all TV's have A/V ports as standard, so they don't list it, or does it mean the TV's I'm looking at don't have them.

    Please help.

  6. Stefan Relax....

All flat screen tvs have A/V ports as standard, all of them have it no matter which brand you buy. Its "industry standard".

    So you're fine.

If you buy a £5 HDMI cable and have some headphones, you can plug your Xbox into a PC monitor; that way, you can take advantage of HD without having to pay much more than £100

Except then you're hooked up to a PC monitor and not a tv.

But Stefan, if you're buying a new tv, it's probably going to be HD, right? Are you sure you want to connect your Xbox the same way it's connected now even if the image won't be in high definition?

  10. Nin, it'll still be HD, but only 720. You need HDMI for 1080.

It does. Probably a chip rather than a card per se.

    And?

Well, Stefan makes clear in every other post that he's a casual user. His PC monitor isn't going be be a glorious 30-inch. Also, he bought his Xbox for GTA. Isn't GTA also available on PC? Pretty simple deduction: Stefan wants to use a big screen.

  16. there was one called xbox, back in the day. It was born as some sort of a rival to ps2, but it came late and didn't last long. It had a few exclusives, but ps2 was just so much better on every regard. Actually I don't know about that, but it had so many games and pretty much everyone already owned one, so...

My PC monitor is pretty old, its 17-inch.

I bought an Xbox for two reasons.
My PC would never handle GTA 4, a PC with a decent graphics card would be so much more expensive than a Xbox.
Secondly, I just wanted an Xbox.

Not that bothered about screen size.
