you mean there isn't a character in chinese that looks like a box?

It looks like a women(女) to me and nowhere near a box or anything.

Also, where the hell did Rex found a phrase like that?

  4. I'm getting an e-reader(nook color). Wondering if anyone has one and can give some insight as to whether they're good for reading manga? Looks like it can read jpegs and pngs, so if I transfer some manga to it, I wonder how it would work. My first e-reader so I guess I'll figure it out when it gets here, but just thought I'd ask if anyone has some tips or whatnot for customizing. I plan to do this, but I'm not entirely sure what doing that will let me do.

  5. Shoulda bought a kindle.

  6. almost bought one, but when I saw that old books were not on inventory i declined. Surprisingly there is a lot of older novels not yet scanned in yet.
If you can find school books that are available in ebook form, then it would be worth it. You would be saving a lot of trees from being turned into hard copy books. And you would have less to lug around for your classes.

For manga - sure why not, then you can read it anywhere, anytime. It would be less of a loss than losing your laptop in case it got stolen.

  7. Ok so i'm thinking of having an anime viewing/steak party while my parents are out and i was wondering if you guys had any good ideas for what to show. Bear in mind two of the possible guests don't like gore or blood by and large(though they DID like Vampire Bund) and the others are fairly easygoing with the last being a picky ass who has "left anime behind"(yet still loves more than a few shows like Rosario Vampire). So yeah any advice for me. I mean i KNOW i should stick to movies but what ones is my query.

I mean I'm VERY good with series but TBH pretty damn bad with movies. Thus my asking.

  8. Stay clear of lovey dovey romantic movies. Chicks might get into it, but guys who are vulnerable might start getting all weepy when they least expect it. Or overrule and opt to jack in a game console.

Drama, is good, but light on romance. Unless you just go retro and pick out some classics that most young people hardly get to watch. That you are familiar with.
If they get into it - its cool, if not at least it ought to keep the party tempo from stagnating.

Then again you could have a brony fest, just watch MLP the whole tiem.

Actually one likely guest IS a brony. And most people i'd invite are pretty easygoing about series.

Good question. Translating without context is more difficult.

Honestly, if I had a choice between the two, I'd probably go with the Kindle. But I only bought the nook 'cause it was on sale($130 for Nook Color refurb + $20 for Nook simple touch).

I hear that old books that no longer have copyrights can be downloaded for free.

I'll list some movies that have been popular with my club.
    King of Thorns
You are Umasou(Really cutesy but if people can make it through the first 20 minutes or so, it turns out to be a really charming movie)
    Redline
    Summer Wars
Just about anything made by Satoshi Kon(millenium actress, paprika)
Professor Layton(Yup, there was a movie. English dub is good too)
    Denpa teki na kanojo ova

For a show i'd say Steins;Gate. Epic and only one bloody scene.

For a movie i would say Eve no Jikan. No blood and great story

I heard you like old books...

    http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page

    http://gutenberg.net.au/

    http://www.digitalbookindex.org/about.htm

Because of differing copyright laws, Project Gutenberg Australia has a lot of books not on Project Gutenberg (U. S.)

Although Digital Book Index has lots of free books, it also has ones you have to pay for.

Not hitting madoka till my last blu ray comes.

As for X IF the girls can make it(like me they dislike driving and are tending the house so unlikely) probably not the best. They have a love hate relationship with Clamp LOL.

King of thorns might be best if the girls can make it. They LOVE the manga. Actually they're the reason i read it so soon LOL.

As for Summer Wars yep great movie. Saw it in theatres and own it. Again though if the girls can make it not the best match. I watched it with em in december LOL.

Redline should be a good match though. Also should be easy enough to find LOL.

And i actually know about the Layton movie. As for the rest gonna look into those. THX for the advice guys. Oh and i'm trying to dodge series since getting these people together is quite rare so a movie or two are about the perfect length.

Thanks. That'll come in handy. I remember seeing those sites before, but I had forgotten about them.

Showing anime to other people is more complicated than just watching what you think is good. Eve no Jikan is a good series, and it's gorgeous, but it'd probably be too slow for a general audience. I don't doubt that sorrior will have some people that make obnoxious comments throughout the show's "boring" parts.

Sounds like King of Thorns and Redline would be good choices for you.

I like what you're doing sorrior. Getting that many people together in a desolate state like yours is quite a feat. Let us know how it turns out.
