I fucking hate animal welfare. I have nothing against saving some endanger apex predator species like Shark and etc. They are important and they need to be there for the food chain balance.
But these self righteous asshole who think we need to have welfare for farm animals. A fucking farm animal, US started it, then Europe follow.
Restriction on confinement for veal, pig, and cow. No cages for layer chicken, more free range. Protest on foie gras, pity the force feeding. Chicken slaughter house need to use sleeping gas -> slit throat instead of electric stun -> slit throat.
WTF is this shit man? why man need to make themselves feel better by engaging meaningless act where the outcome will be the same? you have problem killing animal? then be a fucking vegetarian and gtfo...don't chew those meat while spewing out moral crusade act of caring for livestock welfare.
They are mass produced, we have the grandparent stock and they were commercially raised to be kill, dealt with it.

I'm personally of the opinion that treatment of animals is a far better and more reliable measure of a person's moral value than their treatment of other humans.
It's not that animals are more important; of course, they are not. But a person's views towards animals nearly always correlate very well with their general moral fortitude.

Though on killing themselves no they don't commit suicide what they do if they can't run around is they attack each other.

The solution is simple: we keep the animals caged, but teach them they're dying for a greater good. Then they will be obedient and we won't have to drug them or waste time on "humane" stupidity.

Actually cage free chicken raising is not that hard nor is it actually that much more expensive.

I'm all for animal rights, but not to the point of retardation like some people. They're not things to just jerk around with because we're "better" than they are (was a kid I knew growing up who insisted that you could torture animals because "God put them here was us to do as we pleased with them"), and they're not peerless saints that must never be harmed, either.
As far as the way animals are raised for food... yeah, most of it sucks, but I need to eat a lot of meat or I'll probably die, so I buy it, eat it, and like it. Would it be nice if I was eating somebody that got to be decently happy with himself before somebody chopped his head off and shipped him off to the store? Well, yeah, it would be, but for the selfish reason that it would be a better quality meat.
