Hey everyone, i'm not sure if there's already been a thread made about this. Honestly i'd be surprised if there hasn't but I couldn't find one so I thought I might as well just post this anyway. I'd like to know how you guys first got into Anime. What show was it that made you stand up and think "Damn, this stuff is really good."?
I'll be honest, I only actually got into Anime quite recently. When I was younger I watched shows like Pokemon and Digimon but that was as far as it went. However recently I accidentally stumbled upon an absolute gem of a show called "Sora No Otoshimono", that's "Heaven's Lost Property" for the west.
The show is based around a high school boy, Tomoki. Who's life is turned upside - down when a pet - class angeloid named Icaros falls from the sky. Some of the humour might seem a little too...cheeky for some at first glance. But if you look past the face value the show is actually incredibly deep and well - written. I've never had a show take me through such a wide range of emotions like this since "Buffy The Vampire Slayer". I've honestly never laughed so hard in my life than when I watch some of Tomoki's ridiculous antics, but at the same time, watching Icaros try her hardest to adapt to life as a normal human can be heartbraking.
I watched a short clip of this show completely by accident whilst mindlessly browsing Youtube for some cheap laughs, and it turned out to be the happiest accident i've ever had. This is not only the show that made me look at Anime in a serious light but it's also one of the best written shows i've ever seen.
So that's my story, I stumbled into the wonderful world of Anime completely by accident via a show full of hysterical wackyness and heartbraking innocence. What about you guys, how did you first discover Anime?
