race =/= nationality (which OP doesn't seem to understand)

I could have a harem made of white women all from different countries and that would be an international harem.

Interracial harem is a better term for OP.

I mean the no black or latina is understandable since the only black girl from an anime I know so far is Nadia and I've never saw a Latina in an anime yet.

Nadia didn't even look black, which was disappointing. I can think of one black girl who was really pretty in an anime, but she was a side character. And to make matters worse I can't remember the name of the anime. I think she was a mechanic though.

I wonder whether the Japanese know that Latin Americans exist?

FFVII's Rude is the only Latin American character I can remember from any Japanese visual media.

I don't even know what looking Black is anymore after this year.

Thank you white supremacist and poke fan at black people websites I've visited.

I always thought Rude was black. But knowing Japanese people he was just really tan.

If I had to tell anime artist how to draw them, I'd say almond eyes, less pointed noises, and fuller lips. And for fucks sake stop giving them that light pink lipstick look I see in a lot of anime.

They seem hit or miss with male characters, so I guess it's a slow start.

Everyone did. I always thought he was the "big, silent, scary black dude" archetype to complement the "big, loud, angry black dude" archetype that Barret allegedly represented (although Barret was a much more rounded character than people gave him credit for).

But one of the big-wigs (maybe it was Nomura) said he was meant to be South American.

They should have done more with Barrett and his relationship with Marlene, the way they did with Sahz and his son. I liked Barrett but felt like they didn't do enough with him when they had tons of opportunities to.

The annoying thing about FFVII was that there just wasn't enough time to fully explore the stories of all the secondary characters.

This is true of all FF games, but it's more noticeable in VII since VII's strength was in its superb supporting cast rather than the main hero and villain, who were relatively bland in comparison.

I thought they really failed with Sephiroth. He had all the potential to be one of the best villains ever created.

He was experimented on before he was born and was basically a test subject against his will for his entire life. Who knows what they would have done to him had he not been successful and who knows what they DID do to him to get him to be as successful as it was. He had no family, his two best friends were also experiments and he lost them both before he turned. And it's easy to piece together that had he not been full of alien cells, and a life completely lacking in love, and having to deal with war at a young age that he would have remained a good guy.

They could have done so much more if they took the time to examine his life more deeply, or if they at least gave more time to his conflict between his humanity and what was done with him. Even with Crisis Core all we got was him going down into a basement, being normal 99% of the time he was down there, and then suddenly coming out crazy. It wasn't a believable fall.

Again, this is Square's fail. They had all the pieces to make a deep main character and fell short. The pieces are still there but who knows if they will ever pick them up again.

As for Cloud, I found him boring as hell. I seriously think Squall was a better character.

That's part of what I'm talking about. I've seen black people with the opposite of all those.

Cloud wasn't boring but I like Squall better.

Squall just had more going for him. More character development, more fighting skills and leadership abilities, etc. I hated Rinoa and the fact that she had to be a catalyst in his changes, but he was a good guy.
