Announcement made during new preview of film after 2nd film's TV premiere

The anime studio Khara confirmed that Evangelion Shin Gekijō-ban Q Quickening, the third film in Hideaki Anno and Khara's four-part remake of Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series, will open in Japan in Fall of 2012. The announcement was made during a new preview of the film that aired after the television premiere of the second film.

The title of the third film was first revealed with a teaser that ran at the end of the second film's theatrical release. The "Q" or "Kyū" in the third film's title is a wordplay in Japanese; the first three films' subtitles are the names for the three classical movements (Jo-Ha-Kyū or Introduction-Exposition-Climax) of traditional Japanese music such as gagaku and Noh.

The Yaraon! blog posted images from the new preview of the third film.

I am more interested in waiting for the next gundam unicorn, but this is fine too. In the last movie, they really went off the track. It's gonna be a completely different show from now on.

I really don't know what they're doing with Asuka. They should've just killed her for good in the second movie. /spoiler

I think these movie remakes are fine, since they set out to improve it, and decided it would be 4 movies from the start.

But I still can't forgive that "Campus Apocalypse" manga. It's so terrible. What's really wrong with the industry and the fans. It'd be a mediocre manga if it wasn't associated with NGE, but they slapped on chara designs and references to NGE for sales.

That was the whole point. The first movie was pretty much the same, the second had some divergent points, and now the third has passed the 1% divergence barrier.

They are making a alternate storyline for the series with 3D Animation.From the clip it look's like they are going to up in space with this series I hope it will be a Epic Space battle.

Yo, I was just thinking. Rei throwing the Lance of Longinus was one of my favorite parts in the series. Are they going to take the lance away from Rei and give it to Asuka? Shame, shame.

I was thinking they should have Asuka rape Shinji in a force situation calling him a Cherry Boy.
