A new movie named Colombiana is coming out, about a hispanic female assassin avenging her family's murder. I loved the "Roberta's Blood Trail" episodes of Black Lagoon, so I'm curious what you all think about this one.

Considering that I am a "FAN-BOY" of such films... and of Luc Besson..
However...
This time, it seems as if he is - "combining" - all his films together to create this.
I would rather (personally) see the - "continued story" - of Matilda from - "LEON: The Professional" - and how that ends when she has become a REAL -
Professional- "Cleaner"I know many will disagree with me on this - is that I would LOVE - (seriously LOVE) - to see the main character with little to no dialogue, and with little to no sexual play in it.

Those scenes always backfires on a character that's supposedly - "tough as nails" - and *just* makes her look weak, though I understand the reasons why they add those scenes.
I don't mind nudity, like in a shower scene, sleeping scene, or similar... just forego the boyfriend crap, interest, and background love story of the past.
Look what happened when they remade - "Le Femme Nikita" - (as "Point of No Return") - (with Bridget Fonda) - that ridiculous background love interest was soo retarded and that guy pissed me off to no end. ~
Let's see some, yandere/yangire/kudere for once, as they would be more memorable.
This is - "why" - Black Lagoon's - "Roberta" - worked so well (imo) because she didn't give a shite and did what she had to do.

FUKEN THIS^ that's why Roberta's trail was awesome, why Gunslinger Girl worked so well and why Leon was excellent (they kept the whole loli love interest to a minimum and worked it well into the story)

Each time a (love interest) gets involved or is part of the storyline, it just cheapens the tough female character, and I never could look at her the same ever again.
I believe if done correctly, it can be achieved, and she (a character) can be very memorable as some of the animu counterparts...
Some Asian films do pass along this concept well, most are just parodies, but they are better than what the western ones portray.
I especially liked...Princess Aurora (2005)
Ms 45. was the famous (and banned) in some places, though a lb exploitation film, it was famous for the unedited version, which was released by accident, and caused a stir..
I have seen the Terminator, plus type similar films, including SALT and I think that Jolie is over-acting, as she may - (have been good) - at being Lara, but its overly done with excessive talking, cartoonish characterization, and bs.

I saw Salt while on a bus in Mexico (during the backpacking) the story was not bad, but Angelina Jolie is not a good actress and her looks are gone (she still has tits and lips, but nothing else)
in any case, I'm not going to see Colombiana, the trailer really put me off, and as we've clearly covered, there are better options if one wants to watch a tough female assassin type film/series

You don't have to worry about the sex with Saldana because. Zoe Saldana is gay. She plays for the other team. from what I've heard.

She laughs at those rumours. Gay people can act straight and vice versa, so who cares? I think she's beautiful.
The thing about Roberta was how she was unstoppable to the point of insanity, never giving up. All the pills that kept her going, risking madness & burning out. This movie will probably chicken out and have her be rescued by "the love of a good man" or some crap. Roberta wouldn't need that.Posted 4 years ago # -
