Gosick vs Real History

  1. So I watched the last episode of Gosick, and tried to make sense of it, but I don't think any of the dates actually work.

So let's establish a few facts first.

    1) It sounded like the story takes place a few years after the first world war, the details of which seemed relatively accurate according to my terrible history.
    2) The country the anime takes place in is fictitious, but that's not really a problem, because it's important to the story that they live in a place with its own history and mythos.
    3) The country allies itself with germany in 1928, which seems a little early. Hitler started his political career in 1924, and became chancelor in 1933. The anime made it seem as if the alliance was in preparation for war, but I would expect such an alliance, even in a quasi-fictitious world, would happen sometime in the mid 1930's
    4) In the anime, "THE WAR" is over in 1929...? Was there actually some kind of conflict in that time period that I'm not aware of, or is the writer making WW2 happen 10years early and finishing in 6months?

Okay... I had somewhere I was going with this, but I think I made my main point in bullet 4. Is there a reasonable correspondence to history, or is the author just making shit up wholesale for post 1920 events?

just like they did with Strike Witches, instead of Nazis they had Neuroi, and instead of atomic bombs they have lolis with torpedo legs. interestingly they kept the Bouncing Bomb

  6. Lets see WWII happened over a decade sooner.
Imperial Japan actually was a safe place for a European woman to go.
Victorique very likely would have been executed as a spy in the real WWII Japan.

In the real pre WWII world they would have had to flee to one of the following the US,UK,Australia or South America.

Just consider it an alternate world.

  7. This kind of works are fiction and should not be taken seriously unless you are the type who don't like alternate universe works that only caters fanservice or simply don't like unrealistic alternate universe works
