But me saying that he owns a pony sex toy is the dark irony. Dark irony is my way of saying dark humor with irony, which see it as.

He might kick it around the room to vent his hatred for MLP. He could use it as evidence when speaking against MLP in public. The non-ironic possibilities are endless.

What you described may not be ironic but is a bit darker since what would he need to buy/get one in order to do that.

This is one of my pet peeves. People judge ALL fans for the misgivings of certain fans. Worse, they lump the show and its various fans as it you can't like the show and dislike the fans.

Yes! This is right on the money. Judging a franchise by the behavior of its fans is as foolish as considering fanwork to be canon. I say, be a fan of something first and foremost because you like it, not because of however nice or douchey the fan community is. I'm totally ignorant of comics by bronies or the various fan songs or whatever, and what drew me into FiM was the show itself. No need to dither about being a conformist or nonconformist. You just have to listen to your heart; that's what I do.

I first got drawn in by Fluttershy Skyrim videos, although I've never had contact with any brony prior to watching the show. I guess I just like unlikely mixes because of the contrast. I'm even using Fluttershy as the dictator of a nation in a game I play online.

Fluttershy can soothe the wild beast; she can surely keep lowly vassals in line.

What if it's something like Touhou, which is so huge BECAUSE of the fan work?

I feel sorry for the children that try to look up their favorite show on the internet. Probably wonder why the parental controls block so many websites about a childrens cartoon about pastel horses.

I've never known anyone who had to deal with parental controls growing up. Rather I feel saddened that children are likely to see sexualized ponies when searching for the show. Chances are that they'll develop some strange fetish.

Unrelated: Season two of mlp has been added to netflix's instant stream.

I didn't grow up with parental controls either but it's much more readily available now and the responsible thing to do. I remember when I was little I really liked sonic the hedgehog. So I was looking at fan art for it...and that was my first run in with the most fucked up rule 34 ever. I was pretty shaken by it and stopped liking sonic shortly after.

I did not imply that. I feel that explaining the joke or giving it too much detail is cheapening it. Granted I could've done it better. But like I said, Anti seems like a person who dislikes MLP. But me saying that he owns a pony sex toy is the dark irony. Dark irony is my way of saying dark humor with irony, which see it as.

Implying that ALL bronies do this. I have seen arguments out the solar system between bronies when it comes to this stuff. Some fight it, some defend it, many just try to ignore it.

I have done nothing to you, JERK.

You don't have to do a single thing to me. By your actions alone I have deemed you unfit to coexist with me.

Touhou and Vocaloid are anomalies, in the sense that the basic concepts are expanded upon and fleshed out by the fans, and the creators even encourage it. I really doubt the people behind Friendship is Magic, despite their delight at the numerous demographic outliers, would condone any of the perversion that certain bronies get up to. We should be thankful for concessions like the fan-influenced Derpy Hooves, however short her tenure may have been.
