Live-Action Noir picked up by Starz

  1. Starz gives series order to 'Noir'

Starz is ramping up its originals with a greenlight to series of "Noir."
Skein, about female assassins who fight a secret society but, ultimately, might have to kill one another, is a live-action adaptation of a Japanese anime series.

Project comes from Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert, who have a history at Starz with the "Spartacus" franchise. They will exec produce with writer Steven Lightfoot, Joshua Donen and Bill Hamm.

Normally I'd cringe at this news, but it has Sam Raimi attached to it.

  2. Sounds interesting. I just MIGHT get cable again to watch, or wait for torrents of it later on. When and IF if does come out.

  3. One of the few anime series I actually bought legit.

Not sure though is 'live action' though would have any hold on me. Sometimes the attraction of a show is really just because the viewer likes how it was DRAWN.

You can't always make a live version just for that one reason.

  5. I feel like I heard about this before...

Anyway, I didn't much enjoy the anime. Too slow. But a movie with gun toting girls sounds like a recipe for success.

    That article, remember?

Anyway i don't think they'll be able to catch that dark atmosphere the anime has.
It ain't called Noir for nothing.

And i think they'll also fail on all the nice cinematography moments it had.
Like Chloe walking through the Swiss Alps while that nice music is playing in the background.

All we get is probably two girls killing stuff, that's it.

  7. Knowing Starz, they'll spend a hell of a lot of time getting the perfect lead actresses, and then just give Raimi and Tabert free reign. It's a coin toss if it will turn out well.

  8. Nicole Kidman should play Mireille Bouquet.

this is kinda old news, tho I guess being green lit makes it newsworthy again.

I didnt care much for noir, save its soundtrack and Kirika. But I agree with the above statement, Kirika is gonna ba raepd. I doubt they'll keep her a teen and if they do they'll take the lesbian undertones (and sweet naked lesbian kisses in the lake at the end)

They should make a crossover noir and blitz tactics najica, lesbian sex all over the screen. Lila+Kirika would be... just beautiful
