So the west is now denying Crimea's right to self-determination.
Oh, it's fine for Scotland to have a referendum on leaving the UK, but Crimea isn't allowed to decide whether to leave Ukraine?
imo, it should be a violation of international law for countries to deny their states/provinces/regions/whatever the ability to decide whether they want to leave. The UN charter emphasises the importance of self-determination, but needs a way to allow peoples to enforce that right.
It says in the Ukrainian constitution that the whole of Ukraine should be able to tell Crimea whether it can or can't leave? Then it's not the Crimeans who should be condemned; it's the Ukrainian constitution!

The Ukrainian constitution 2010 does not allow Crimea to vote leave or not leave. Only the Old Ukrainian constitution 1992 allowed to vote for it.
But the point of many Crimeans is that if in Kiev men with sticks could make unconstitutional coup then Crimeans can do the same and vote for joining to Russia.
