I don't know why I chose to watch it today when I couldn't stand the first season....

Yuru Yuri is absolutely fucking boring. I'd like to have my 13 minutes and 26 seconds back.

    =======

    In all seriousness...

I do - 'like' - the series, as it has its moments, it has light-heartedness in its display, the visual jokes are some of the best (imo), which makes me laugh (which is hard to do), as I simply hate comedy unless its a certain type...

    However ~

I don't watch it for the - 'usual' - subtle interest that some like it for though...

I don't care about the subtle sexual references either. I just want some comedy.

Yuru Yuri didn't deliver. The jokes were... lame.

Its good to see that someone else watches it for the aspects other than the sexual references...

Sorry Sir... I edited my post, as I changed the - 'jokes' - to - 'visual jokes' - which seems (to me) to be far better than the spoken ones - Akari Akaza - seems to steal the show most of the time in this aspect.

The first one is subbed, I doubt the the second one is. The Blueray/DVD just came out on 25th, and the raw just appear awhile ago.

  9. Well Joshiraku is on a 3 week break and will be back on August 17th.

On the plus side we don't have to worry about the english translation being delayed anymore.

  13. As for Kokoro Connect episode 4, Nagase was right; Inaba got all worked up over nothing. Man, the series so far is like Maria-sama Ga Miteiru; creating drama and big fuss over insignificant shit.

...Of course, Aoki probably had wanked himself as Inaba before(what straight man wouldn't?), but it's small matter.

I hope this seemingly mundane shit is just build up for later, more important drama.

  16. Talking about Maria-sama Ga Miteru....i really wanna watch it, but there is no more torrent available for it...

the only one left is [GrimRipper] sub, but the seed has been stuck forever for s1, s2, and s3...and i havent even get the s4, which i should consider it probably being licensed too

  17. All four seasons have been licensed in the US, but there are other torrents still around. GrimRipper probably didn't subtitle anything, just used the DVDs.

Jinrui, Joshiraku and Yuru Yuri are easily the highlights of this season.

I wasn't too impressed with the first episode, the the second one definitely convinced me.

^ Watashi's VA, Nakahara Mai is also Reimu's unofficial seiyuu btw

  20. I am thoroughly enjoying Kokoro Connect the farther it goes along.

Back when I saw the description on Moetron along with the name of Silver Link, I was quite frankly expecting something far more comedic, possibly with a surreal twist to it. I was very pleasantly surprised that the story is far more dramatic than I first expected.

Delving into Yui's demons was a nicely executed experience in my opinion, if rather quick. I think one of the things I enjoyed about it the most was that the solution was very down to earth and simple, and basically amounted to a confidence booster for her. I also liked that Taichi did acknowledge that teaching her how to be a literal ball buster was not a permanent solution, but just "giving her a push" as he said himself. No one is under the illusion that her fear of men went away (the whole "fear of men" thing by the way is a trope a usually don't enjoy but I like the way it's portrayed in Kokoro Connect and the Freudian Excuse behind it) but the group is able to recognize that Yui is taking a step in the wright direction. However she seems to have fallen for Taichi, so I'm wondering where that leaves Aoki off...

The situation with Inaba however, took me by surprise. In the previous episode she said to Taichi that the body switching shenanigans couls have more serious consequences than he could imagine. And while at the time I think the had a really good point, I also though she was taking it a little too seriously for her own good. It turns out that the one who was taking it hard was Inaba herself, and she was just speaking on behalf of everyone to shield herself. As someone stated on TV Tropes, she ends up subverting the Freudian Excuse. She notes that she has no form of trauma that made her untrusting of everyone (including her friends). She is simply a Self-Loathing, Paranoid, stone-cold Misanthrope and she is that way simply because she is. While I did think that her statements in episode 3 were a little too doomsday-esque, I didn't think that line was almost totally motivated by her own paranoia and self loathing. I actually like that development as over the course of these 4 episodes, Inaba has already proven herself to be the "Mom" of the group (knowing of the stories behind both Yui and Iori before Taichi heard them), but is also something of a meddler and a control freak. I liked this development as it proved Inaba fallible. Also, it showed that Inaba is not totally closed off to help from friends and how Taichi would help someone who is fully aware of his martyrdom and would not accept that type of pity. Also the conversation between them provided the jaw dropper moment at the end of the episode thanks to Inaba's masturbation confession (which also proves she has wants and desires of her own).

Iori's demons, they are a little too early to talk about. When Yui noted that her house was empty late at night, I figured that her baggage had to do with divorce, and the step-parents that may or may not come out of it. I was not expecting the number of step-dads to reach 5 strong. Though more specifically it's the idea of always living to please someone else that gives her the bigger problem, a lack of self-identity which is only exasperated by the body swapping. It's an interesting predicament and set up, however it feels like we are only getting the calm before the storm with her. Inaba's words may ring true for her, considering Taichi was not sure how to handle the situation now that Inaba made him more aware of his martyrdom. Not to mention her baggage is connected directly to the idea of personal identity the body swapping represents. Her's will be a problem that will take a while to fix, so we'll see what happens from here on.

Concerning Taichi himself, I am fond of him actually, more fond of him than I would be normally of "always save the girl" protags. I guess that is because, like with Araragi in the Monogatari series, the fact that he is behaving in this fashion is being called attention to, and it is being noted by Inaba that trying to help everyone in need can hurt just as much as help. However there is something that concerns me. Taichi is pretty much netting all the females at this point, even though he is not a sole male lead amongst a female cast. Aoki is there as well, and I'm somewhat concerned right now as to how he is going to be handled with all the girls of the club taking a shine to him. Will he be getting any focus, or will he simply become "the nice guy who failed because he wasn't the MC"? However, this is still only episode 4, so time will tell.

However, out of the things I am watching this season (YuruYuri2, Lagrange2, Horizon2, Campione!, TariTari, Joshiraku, Sword Art Online, Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate, the hold-overs Hyouka and Accel World, and this of course) this is turning out to be the big "Sleeper Hit" for me. The concept left me feeling ambivalent, but it is surprising me and becoming one of my favorites of the season. It pretty much has me on the edge of my seat.
