  2. I've only watched the first episode so far. I like it. I like "survival game" stories like Battle Royale.

  3. I need to pick it up Mirai Nikki again. I forget which episode I left off on, so I might as well start over. I was only a few episodes in, so it won't be a big deal.

  4. Just finished Kore wa Zombie desu ka? A nice way of ending the anime drought. 12 episodes is rather short though.

  5. Akiba Ranger ep10

I have to admit that I don't get half of the sentai references from the show, but I did get this one. Green Dragon Zord music when the guy was explaining what the candles were.

  6. The episode of Elfen Lied in which Lucy and Kohta go on their date when they were kids. Hahhhh.... It was so cute.

But then she lost confidence and turned to a life of evil. Such a tragedy. This is one of my favorite series of all time. I've got to write a sequel fanfic to the anime; I just know the two of them can work things out when they're adults.

The manga (which is vastly inferior, IMO) is a separate continuity from the anime, especially since it ends differently. I choose to see it as abiding by its own parameters, such as Silpelits aging just like regular humans, as there's nothing implying otherwise. To me, the anime's Nana is about 13 or 14, and looks her age. Her dialogue is what you'd expect from someone of that age, too.

I can't read the manga. It sounds way too depressing; unnecessarily so. The anime is a masterpiece.

  9. Episode 10 of Haiyore! Nyaruko-san was a total bore. I just couldn't get excited about the episode and I don't know why. I've loved most of the other episodes, but this one lost me, I suppose.

  10. Watched some episodes of Super Gals!

I love the fact that more than half of kogal slang has already made it's way in present-day casual Japanese speech.

This show was probably one of the precursors.

God damn that show brings back memories. I watched that back when I didn't even know what the word Otaku was (Though I never finished the damn show). And remembering back to it, yeah a lot of the Gyaru speak has been assimilated into casual speech, no longer being representative of a subculture, but now just a common thing. Though I think this would have happened with or without Super Gals, as fashions that were once a subculture either become widely popular (and then get toned down so as to be fully assimilated) or just die out to make way for the next thing. The Kogal thing just ran it's course, and it's more palatable elements got co-opted by the wider populace. I don't think that Super Gals had much to do with the shift.

I wish I could analyze the show itself more, but it just isn't fresh enough in my head to do so.

All I will say is that Ran Kotobuki is badass.

  12. Super gals was awesome. Loved both the anime and manga, but the manga is miles better. Even though their fashion sense made me cringe.

Ran is one of my favorite characters out of anything.

One of my earliest role models from anime.

    You poor unfortunate soul.....

I ended up dropping the series halfway. Watch on if you must but I highly recommend against it.

In my case, it's one of the few I had to force myself to finish for the sake of finishing a series. ugh.

Are you a reviewer per chance?

  19. I rarely recommend -against- watching a show, even if I don't care for it.

Nope. I just like seeing things end regardless of the ending. To me, it's how they got there that counts.

There are titles that would make me want to stop watching to take a break from heavy emotions [Clannad -After-] or make me want to stop because its boring or disgusting me.

In Guilty Crown's case, there are things I didn't like, but the optimist in me looks for what's good in a title. GC is one of the titles written to depress in the later half, which it did well. What's good in it? The soundtrack is one thing, the first half is another. The second half did its job, so I think that's also good.

I stopped a few days when they implemented the ranking system and an angel died. I finished it because I was looking for some sort of redemption in the later episodes and there are, but it's one of the titles I might not pick up again in a while unlike the titles I really liked.

There are titles that are bad or a waste of time, but there is no such thing as a title that is not worth watching or finishing.

    Now this is role reversal.
