bleh. The only anime I've watched recently are Aquarion EVOL 1+2 and Saint Seiya Omega 1-3. Alas, my only experience with Aquarion is through playing as the titular mech in the Super Robot Wars games but the opening episode was good enough for me to go pick up the original series. There were also some good musical scores during the battle sequences.
Keep watching Aquarion EVOL. The bombshell in episode 23 is so good that it's literally going to change everything you think you know about the entire series, including Genesis and the OAVs. The wiki entries are being rewritten just to make sense of the revelation.

Episode 9 is even better. It's hard to believe how this show got so good after getting that lukewarm OAVs and the generic first couple of episodes.
Saki Achiga ep8
Yeah...the more they show the characters from the first season, the less I like Achiga. They should just lose to give the better characters more screen time.

Ikr? Hilarious how even the less interesting characters in the original series are better than the entire cast of Achiga Side A.
I've been feeling both nostalgic and weary, so today will be a marathon of Kokoro Library.

I have to say I agree with you. When I see the girls of Achiga playing, I can't help but feel the same feeling of incomming dread and worry when I see childhood friend characters or girls in RomComs who are not the "first girl." You know, that feeling of no matter their efforts, fate will not let them win.
In RomComs that feeling is mitigated because the show is not centered around them (even though characters like that tend to be fan favorites who steal the show) so the feeling of the character fighting against inevitable fate is not in the forefront of your mind. In Achiga side A,it's like the childhood friend/Non-"First Girl" characters were made the mains but didn't shake the fact that fate is not on their side. That sense of dread is always in my mind and half the time I felt pity for this bunch of girls who are quite frankly, no better than cannon-fodder in comparison to monsters like Saki and Teru.
Also what needs to be added on to this is that I have yet to really get into the characters of Achiga at all. They are all rather run of the mill personalities who I am either indifferent to or am just annoyed by (Like Shizuno who has yet to show a personality trait beyond having her blood at a rolling boil). Even more disappointing in a way is that the playstyles of the Achiga girls don't have the individuality and personality of the playstyles of the girls of Kiyosumi (or really any of the previous season's characters). Even the 2 "supernatural" players of Achiga, the Matsumi sisters, haven't been all that useful. All the girls of Kiyosumi had individual playstyles and "powers" that made their matches unique and exciting. The fact that nothing extraordinary has been shown by the Achiga team makes their matches more boring and makes them feel even more like B-list cannon fodder.
The most exciting parts to me were the ones containing characters from the previous season. Out of the shows I am watching this season, this is probably the weakest. I'm still able to get some level of enjoyment out of Shining Hearts, but I'm really questioning why I continue to watch the series....

Urabe-sama is the best female anime character for 2012. Who's this Saber bitch people talking about? ho ho ho.
Watching Accel World. These people are taking video games too seriously. It's not like .heck were your soul gets stolen by the game or anything.
SO WHY SO SERIOUS!?
Girl goes on a killing spree in a game now she has to fear for her life in the real world?

Because it gives you the power to stop time in real life and assess the situation?
So it's somewhat understandable that they don't want to lose it at all costs.

Huh? Not really. They're just hunting her in the game, it's not like they're really trying to kill her or anything. She just needs to stay offline to be safe.
And that asshole who tried to kill them with a car had a completely different reason that had nothing to do with the game itself.

I didn't know about the car thing a little while ago.
Anyway Kuroyukihime said she was afraid of being attacked in the real world if anyone know who she was. I kinda figured that she was being threaten for her to say something like that.
Given the nature of accel world, the way they took the game very seriously is acceptable as it reflect numerous thing you could accomplished in RL

I now realize how powerful the accel thing is.
Well....
Kore wa Zombie Desu ka - Of the Dead - ended with what I was expecting/waiting to finally hear admitted....
~ though I know, I just wanted to hear it.
~ and I would be shocked too (somewhat)...
~ if I saw body parts sprawled/separated-out like that on the track...
I keep not really being in the mood for watching Sakamichi no Apollon, but once I do (my sister wants to see it), I often do really like it. Episode 9 was amazing. It's such a soap opera in its purest form, which isn't really my kind of thing, but I can't deny that some parts of it do move me. Episode 9 caused me some real goosebumps.

And something else I forgot to mention is the visual quality. Since it's not being made by Gonzo anymore that should mean good things as far as visual quality is concerned. Unfortunately that is really not the case.
Besides looking a bit "shinier" no real improvement in visuals has been made since Saki was made by Gonzo. I'll give Studio Gokumi one thing in that Achiga side A is more consistant in quality than the first season (which like most Gonzo shows, could wildly fluctuate between really nice and really poor animation), but the visual quality is consistantly "meh" by comparison. The visual effects as well in side A are less frequent than in Saki and in my opinion, not as impressive.
Meh, Gilgamesh got plot-armour. Can't wait to see Arondight.
Lancelot is like coolest in terms of look, his black aura is nice.

His Noble Phantasms are great too, IMO only Gates of Babylon and Ionioi Hetairoi are cooler in F/Z.
