Not the best comedy this season but yea it can be funny sometimes, especially this scene.

    ^ get it?
I knew that Sugita voices Hidenori but had to look up who voiced that Emi girl.

I didn't memorize it, that's why I needed to look it up.
As for Sugita he has a very distinct voice, after watching Gintama every week I can instantly recognize him. The girl however I wouldn't have guessed that was Mami's seiyu.
Their interaction in the show was already pretty hilarious and even more so if you realize those are the same people who voiced Gintoki and Mami.

    haganai

Oh! I almost forgot! This has been bothering me. Why do you call it haganai? Is that how people are shortening the title? It just sounds very strange to me. Maybe like Tomoganai or tomonai sounds like a more appropriate shortening of the title.

Oh yeah, sorry. I meant to address the question in a general case, not directly at you.

    Boku wa(ha) tomodachi ga sukunai

The wa thing is because you write it as 'wa' but read 'ha' or something like that, I have no idea. They even spell it with a 'ha' in the opening.

Though I prefer to use the "Boku tomo" shortened version.

I know where they're getting haganai from, I just think it's a dumb way to shorten it. They're applying two particles and the ending of an adjective which can be taken as a negative. It's just idiotic to have two particles making up most of the shortened title.

Looking at the title call, I see why they're doing it, but it's stupid. It's like taking all the important parts of the title, and throwing it out the window. If it was english, it's like taking a descriptive sentence like "The girl's booty is delicious" and throwing out all the important words and keeping words like "The" and "is". It doesn't make sense anymore. You can't even guess as to what the original meaning was.

"Oreimo" made sense because imo is them shortening imouto, so it's like "my sis".

Btw, their reasoning for shortening it like that is most likely because those are the only parts of the title that aren't in kanji.

  14. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Haganai is a stupid abbreviation.

I never would have guessed that Haganai refers to Boku wa Tomodachi on my own. BokuTomo makes much more sense for an abbreviation, similar to OreImo for Ore no Imouto, Kojika for Kodomo no Jikan, and Hagaren for Hagane no Renkinjutsushi (FMA).

  15. It's no less stupid than the folks who gave the "Ochinko" moniker to "Onii-chan Ga Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara Ne!"

Long title is long, after all. Damn those light novel writers for not keeping things simple.

Currently not watching any new anime. Been waiting for P4 ep22 but it's not up yet.

    It actually is.

They're both retarded though; stop trying to defend them.

  17. Regardless, I did a little digging and found out why that fun little moniker was used in lieu of "BokuTomo"

If pronounced loosely, "Haganai" would sound like "Hakanai" which in the Japanese context would mean "not wearing anything (underneath)"

So in essence, it's part of an indirect "Iroke" mnemonic strategy designed to appeal to certain types of otaku.
