  1. Okay so i've been reading this topic on another forum an it's at this point broken down into a debate about chivalry. Now in this case I mean being what was once called a gentleman. Ya know getting the door or chair for a women buying her presents if courting her carrying her bags if around and she wants so on and so forth. But yeah we have those in the debate saying it's sexist and wrong because it could only be because you do it out of arrogance or looking down on women while others say it sounds like a nice thing and the last camp says do it for everyone or no one at all and I was just wondering what the take of the people here in particular the female populations take on this was.

Oh and let's get it outta the way. I am already expecting the " why do you even ask when you'll never get a woman" lines as well as the classic "being nice gets ya nothing" and it's variants. So yeah I'm gonna get trilled for this and j know it but just letting you know I'm so used to these things now that I can see em from a mile away at this point.

EDT i posted his on my i phone at first and can a mod add the 4th poll option of "Only pansies do this sorta thing and they'll never get laid" I hit enter by mistake when entering the poll.

  5. Meh I think it is something you should practice for most people. I really don't find helping and saving people to be sexist if so then anyone that ever helps anyone especially if that person happens to be female is sexist. That just does not make any sense to me.

Actually some people DO hold doors open for others as well as look after others even strangers. Just incredibly rare it seems, Also read the actual post. And they don't have books at the checkout stands here though i will admit i do love me a trashy novel.

  8. In the real world, hmmmm ok I hold the doors for reeely old peeps and old peeps in roller carts. Especaially when the auto door sensor is defective. There are still some retailers in CA that don't have automatic doors.

once upon a tiem - meh was a boy scout too.

  10. Objective answer:
I don't think chivalry is something all men should do or women should ask for...
But indeed it's a nice thing if it's done as an act of true kindness and/or attraction...
Gives off an impression of caring and that's why if done simply because "it's something men should do" the gesture could easily be misinterpreted...

    Subjective
Funny is I've been taught to act politely in front of every person and even today I hold doors for girls too, ask for their pack if heavy and enter/leave room behind them XD Because of that I don't really think of "chivalry" as a guy thing but as an act of polite behavior which should be offered regardless of gender...

well I hope you're standing on the side holding the door. not in the doorway.... ^_^

  12. I accidentally voted sexist.
But women don't deserve special treatment. They aren't pets or toys- they are people like us, so we have to treat them like people and nothing more.
I hold doors for everyone even though I hate most peoples guts, and would violently murder them if there were no consequences.

  14. Sorrior thread = WTF Get out of my house with that shit.

Its nice to be chivalrious every once and a while, but don't go and romantize it or anything, you look like a douche if you do that.

Of course, then there is Don Quixote...AHHHH.
