CLAMP to create story, designs for latest Blood animé from Production I.G; manga also planned. The May issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine is announcing on Saturday that the anime studio Production I.G and the manga creator quartet CLAMP are collaborating on a new Blood original anime called Blood-C, which will launch this July.
CLAMP is creating the story and original character designs, and Production I.G is handling the animation.
In addition, Ranmaru Kotone (Diasta of Ultima Thule, Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo -Tokikake-) will adapt the project into a manga, which will launch in the July issue of Shōnen Ace on May 26.
The official website for the project will open at the http://www.blood-c.jp address, which was registered by Aniplex.
The Blood vampire anime franchise began with Hiroyuki Kitakubo and Production I.G's Blood: The Last Vampire film, in which Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, The Sky Crawlers) and Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East) created the story and screenplay.
The film inspired Jun'ichi Fujisaku's Blood+ television series, Chris Nahon's live-action film remake, and several manga spinoffs.

Personally (for me) ~
I enjoyed the Manga and (first one) - Blood: The Last Vampyre, as well as Blood+, and the LA movie (imo) could have been better without some of the adds, and the changes that were made to it, but it is enjoyable to watch (especially) on a TV screen.
Saya is one of those taciturn Characters that is deep, mysterious, troublesome, yet is soo kick-arse that she's enjoyable.
The first Blood was a example of the (first) dual use of Japanese/English language, as well as the CGI mixed with the animu, which to me (and for its time) was a break-through.
Many non-fans panned the movie because it was too short and left many unanswered questions (plus) many thought that the animation was *nothing impressive*
For those with the tl;dr syndrome, just skip the following....
From Wiki:
Blood: The Last Vampire received multiple awards at various film festivals around the world. In 2000, it was selected as "Public's Prize Best Asia Feature Film" at the Montreal Fantasia Film Festival where it debuted, it won the Grand Prize in the animation category at the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs' Media Arts Festival, and it won the Ofuji Noburo Award at the Mainichi Film Competition. In 2001, it won Special Prize at the akasaki Film Festival and it was selected as the Best Theatrical Feature Film at the World Animation Celebration.
Director Hiroyuki Kitakubo won an award for his work on the film at 6th Animation Kobe.
It received the Grand Prize for animation at the 2000 Japan Media Arts Festival.[citation needed]
In the first week of its North American release, more than 70,000 DVDs and 30,000 VHS copies of Blood: The Last Vampire had been sold.
Within the first month after its release, it became Manga Entertainment's top selling title in the company's history.
The film also appeared on both the Video Business, Billboard, Video Store Magazine and Entertainment Weekly lists of top DVD sales.
The company attributes this success to their use of two unconventional marketing methods: a limited theatrical release before the DVD release to market the title and offering the entire film for free on the day the DVD was released through a streaming video broadcast on Sputnik7.com where it was downloaded by more than 61,000 viewers.
Marvin Gleicher, then president of Manga Entertainment, stated that the film's "success has proven to be a landmark time in the history of Manga Entertainment."
Michael Stroud of Wired News praised the film's blend of 2D and 3D elements and quoted Academy Award winning director James Cameron as saying: "Digital imaging has entered a new era.
The world will come to consider this work as the standard of top quality in digital animation."
In The Anime Encyclopedia, Jonathan Clements and Helen McCarthy praised the film for its groundbreaking use of English, its "stunning animation" and its high end action sequences, but criticized its short length and lack of a conclusion.
Animerica reviewer Urian Brown called it a "piece of superb animation" that a "pretty and gritty...sleek, dark, and sexy" film that will make a viewer forget its lack of "story, depth, and character development."
According to Electronic Gaming Monthly, Blood: The Last Vampire was one influence behind the "striking visuals" of the video game Crackdown.

I am looking forward to the this new release and if you decide to venture to look for the original, then you decide if it's good or not.
As far as CLAMP goes...
It doesn't matter, to me in the least, we have seen many animu done in many forms and styles...
I really enjoy - xxxHOLIC - even with the character designs, and how can anyone (really) criticize the style, since - Onii-chan no Koto - (also) had some unusual character designs - yet - people *still* watched it.

Oo! Question for you.
I fapped too much, and now my penis is bleeding from every angle. Will the new Blood+ give me a transfusion?

WTF!! ~ You think I'm a bleeding medic?
I will venture that you were fapping - *dry* - and accumulated all the previous ejacs, letting them dry, thus adding to the dry, cracked skin... which caused the bleeding that you speak of...
~ (maybe) if you close your eyes, a succubus, may enter through your window tonight and assist you with your issue..

Hehe, you know me too well. But you know I don't dry rub! tsk tsk.
Personally I prefer the second incarnation of Saya because the storyline and background was more developed (although of course it had the advantage of having more episodes). Also Diva makes a cool sister-in-law
and Okinawan phrase is memorable (if somewhat cheesy to some)
