Made in China, not always a slur

  1. I see a lot of things about China, and it makes a person wonder, can they do anything right?

Well actually they CAN do at least one thing well.

Dragon DML is a company that makes 1/35th and 1/72nd scale military models (among others I just know their military models). These models are currently as good as it gets for the most part. They have equals, but, they don't have competitors that can casually say they are superior without a lot of effort.

Dragon is not alone. There are other companies producing in China as well. Maybe they have made so much of our plastic junk in the past, they simply understand plastic parts with a lot of experience behind them now.

Just bought a German tank destroyer kit (WW2) in 1/35th scale the other day. It's a limited edition 1 production run item. It is omg detailed.
Tamiya, my normal favourite, would need to break out in a sweat to due this kit, and likely would need to price it past twice the price of the DML kit too.

That's another perk, China enjoys conditions favourable to competing. Their 50 dollar kits would cost Tamiya 100 easily.

Just thought I would mention it, seeing as we always seem to be seeing things that make you wonder if they can actually do anything right at all some days.

  2. Probably made with lead or shell casings from spent depleted uranium rounds or something knowing china .... or maybe they found a way to incorporate sewage? Wouldn't be terribly surprised.

  3. they actually can do quality products for a smaller price they just don't usually do it

they only do useful products when a western company manufactures their products in China
when China companies make their own products then they make crap out of crap, just because they can

  4. Throughout the seventies, and into the early eighties, the stamp "Made In Japan" was a mark of shame, meaning cheap crap. Pretty similar to what "Made in China" is today. Japan was able to enforce the standards of their manufacturing on their own, which lead to Japan becoming known for the quality of their work.

If China can manage to do the same, I'll be surprised. But it is possible that they could, after all, there is a precedent just across the water. But for now, "Made in China" = crap.

  5. Yep I'm one of the ones old enough to remember 'Made in Japan'.

It wasn't a polite remark in my youth.

Reminds me of something but involves Soviet weapons called "Monkey Model" which is for example, T-72 tank, the quality made is kept by the Soviets while the Monkey model (inferior quality) are given to their allies.

Probably same thing goes to China except that ratio of quality products over inferior quality is likely 1 is to 100

  7. in China it's the opposite, they can produce useful things for the west when a western company requests it but for their own people they produce only the biggest crap
