  3. Did you set a restore point before screwing it up?

A bit late but didn't really have access to a PC until now

So my choice was good? Good to know! I thought 2K was relatively cheap considering I saw some others at 3-4K (I think it was Alienware). Either way money is no more an issue for me, I just don't really like to spend it, especially on myself. But that looks like something worth buying so it's totally OK!
4Kg is pretty light isn't it? I'm pretty used to transporting heavy things because of work so that shouldn't be a problem either

Like I said I don't know much about laptops but from what I gathered, seems like I'll have to leave it plugged in when in use. It's fine though, I'm not really looking for complete mobility. Think of it like a portable desktop PC, if that makes sense

Also, for the video card, is there real difference between Nvidia GeForce GTX 880M 4Gb and 8Gb?

Yes it is. Alienware/Razer are apple under the gaming. Asus is expensive as well, but it's good quality. If you can shell out that amount you probably won't get a better gaming laptop.
4kg is heavy and it's more with the included power supply. I had an y500 which, with the power supply was around 3kg? And the laptop itself is ok, but you usually carry around more shit, so add everything together and a lighter laptop is always a bit more comfortable if you're willing to sacrifice on some specs. But considering you're getting 17' you have a fully fledged desktop replacement.

There's no need to get an 8gb GPU. I have a dedicated 3gb r9 280x desktop GPU and I run everything max max max at 1920x1080. Even skyrim modded runs perfectly fine at 40fps+. The vRam is to load big textures and shit.

That's a good cooling pad! I have the 15' version of that one. It's sturdy, good angle, and it actually looks pretty nice.

Nope cause it would have just gone to having a virus.

    It's fine now anyway.

  6. Wow even my little sister knows how to set a restore point and remove a virus.
Though if you want to split hairs what you encountered is a trojan and the virus was the payload.

You might also have a rootkit installed.

  11. I would really love to just try a macbook air or pro for a few weeks myself. Just out of curiosity.
When I found the iphone in Singapore I used it for about a month or so. But I just couldn't find any really great things about it. It felt so locked down. The onscreen keyboard was terrible to use. Options were limited. It only had a decent camera. Which was why I brought it along.

Funny thing is, a few years back I bought a phone for my girlfriend. I believe it was a HTC desire. Quite a good phone at time of release and I never really heard her complain about it. She has an iphone now, and she's complaining every time. Though since she has an airbook I guess that's the easiest thing to get. But I'm sure once her macbook and iphone get too old to use I'll get her something better again.

  12. Has anyone here successfully charged a smartphone from a tablet via cable?

Posted 1 year ago # Quote
  13. It might work but not very well as the USB ports on most tablets are limited to 500ma or less while a smart phone typically needs about 1000ma or more for charging.

A better solution would be to get one of those portable battery operated USB chargers for about $20 or a car charger etc.

  19. How does Apple even dare to release a 4'7inch phone with the below average resolution of 1335 x 750. This phone will carry a premium price tag, but a resolution which was already outdated on high end smartphones over 2 years back. Now the 5'5 inch Iphone 6+ will get a 1080p resolution. But the recent high end smartphone market has been filled with qHD 'phablets'. From the new LG G3 and the upcoming Note 4. - Where is innovation with these guys? They're chasing the facts. And yet people are still stupid enough to pay premium for their devices. Enjoy your locked down OS. Ohh and I would use another service instead of iCloud.
