  1. I'm actually very surprised Sony went X86 as usually something like that is too lazy for them.
Plus it also makes things easier for pirates since X86 is just too widely understood.
Any copy protection on X86 is about as much security as a rope barrier with a sign saying do not cross.

With Microsoft I was surprised they went PPC on the 360 when the Original Xbox was X86.

Although next-gen consoles are much closer to dumbed-down PCs due to their x86 architechture and use of otherwise off-the-shelf parts of present-day mid-end wares(no more custom CPUs like Cell), I want to clarify something as the creator of this thread towards console peasants such as you.

It's sadly not even available in the Netherlands and the EU. Americans are lucky to have gotten that phone.
But the nexus 5 is more and costs less. Just not as good looking. I want a lime green phone or something :c

  13. Finished setting up a NAS for my home (Synology DS1812+). It was a little too easy...

But now I'm picking apart my old external drives to throw in it. <3 hybrid RAID.

    I'd totally buy one.

Killing Maemo was one of the biggest mistakes Nokia ever did.

Some extremal drives have an integrated USB 3.0 interface vs an adapter board.
You can still bypass this but it's a pain.

  15. Need some audio help

My dad brought home these 2 speakers. Which were part of an ipod docking station. His work didn't need the speakers but only needed the docking station.

The only cable coming from the speakers is (as seen below)
How can I hook these up with my laptop? Easy way?

  17. What do you guys think of customized PCs?

I mean, rigs that are assembled 100% by the shop, which often have artsy looking CPUs full with LEDs and shit.

Went to a friend's how to see his newly bought one. Personally, I thought the thing itself is at least good to look at, but he told me that he's starting to wonder if the extra cost gone to the aesthetics of the rig is worth it, since his rig is not going anywhere out of his room, and he'd rarely be showing them off to people(in my case, I asked him to show me).

Useless crap. LEDs are only useful if I want to have more trouble sleeping when I leave the PC downloading overnight.
If one wants a customized PC he's supposed to care a lot about it, yet he didn't assemble it himself. So he avoided the most enjoyable part and is left with useless flashy stuff that maybe a few people will notice, but most of them won't even care.

On an unrelated note about the video card topic, I have an HD6950 and have been using linux for most of this year. LoL doesn't work, and I get 15~ FPS on vanilla WoW (friend of mine with nvidia gets a stable 60). The proprietary drivers were even removed from the official repo because they're too slow to update and are incompatible with Xorg 1.14 (latest beta are, but i'd like to avoid risking to screw up my system again). So yeah, fuck you AMD.

People actually buy those? I thought shops just built them for marketing purposes.
