  2. I'll await for the 2000 series of the psp2....

    First generations generally have problems....

  3. I assume it's using a Tegra 2 chipset as that is the most advanced mobile device 3d chipset by a very large margin about 2 to 3x more powerful then anything else you could use in such a device.

If it's not a Tegra of some type then that claim it has the most advanced CPU/GPU in it's class is likely all hotair.
Many phones may outspec it then.
I was rather disappointed in the 3DS's specs even the iphone was better and it has a powerVR chip and powerVR is crappier then the GMA in the Intel pine trail Atom chipset.

  4. Specs haven't been mentioned as far as CPU goes, so we don't have a real reference for pixel or polygon push.

What I want to know is how long can it keep playing games. If it can beat the 3DS maximum by more than one hour at least, we'll have an actual contender.

  8. there's always been something about these convergence technologies that i have always disliked. i'd prefer for them to specialise rather then to put all their eggs into one basket and inevitably fall over.

i just hope they don't forget the essential selling point for people like us, i.e. the gaming.

  9. If 'Next Generation' means a battery life of not even 1/4th day. They can forget my monies. Go find a durable battery sony, and come back.
    Same goes for the 3ds.

I can't think of any place I might go that leaves me with 4 hours of free time though.

  12. I think Eva units have a longer battery life than this thing.

I ALWAYS forget to recharge my handhelds. Mobile, ds, whatever. And still,I always take my DS on holidays. Well, when I still went with my parents, but those we're long drives. 16hours least, so I would only be able to enjoy the 3DS 1/4 of the period? I don't know if people in Japan travel much (by car) but a lot of people do. And 4 hours is seriously nothing, and I bet 4hours is on the lowest brightness, it will probably be 2~3 hours on max brightness.

Yah so long as you don't use the AT field.
BTW my netbook has a longer battery life then this and it uses enough power to actually get warm.

Really it could have been better I would have preferred they use Tegra 2 because it would have offered similar performance despite being only dual core.
It's gonna be costly because they had to use a custom chip when there are perfectly good SOCs that might actually outperform said custom silicon.
At the very least Tegra 2 would be nearly equal to the SGX543 as they mop the floor with powerVR's current offerings.

Only two Arm units but the GPU has 8 GPU cores.

    Also no user serviceable battery?
Anything that cost more then $150-200 should have a user serviceable battery.

I think I'll wait until version 2 after the custom chip R&D has been paid for which is when the price goes down and they add a replaceable battery.

Agreed. There is really no need for more than 4 hours of battery time/life. 3 hours would be more than enough since that is the longest I've ever played a handheld before in a single session (usually 1 to 2 hours). Though I don't play with handhelds anymore.

  17. If I'm playing a handheld for more than a few hours, it's because I'm just sitting at home playing it, next to a power outlet.

A battery life of 4 hours is no big deal.

  18. Hmmmmm, this or the 3DS? But knowing me i'll get both eventually. And it's about time they added the second analog. Also, is that uncharted I see there? Pretty cool.
