It ~ "seems" ~ that would be placed there... however ~ I think that the OP meant to say was..
Which figure was ~ "your first" ~ which was the beginning of ones collective tendencies...
I shall let others decide on this, as I think, this is different... only that the Title should indicate that, as well, for clarification sakes.
If its about firsts... I should say it was the Dirty Pair Figures (Epoch C-Works)... (which are boxed) currently...
However they are theses pictured below...

Depends on ones POV... but, yes, they are... I had them for a long while, I can't even remember when I got them actually. - I know it was before 2005.
I will dig them out of storage and take a pic of them to show you guys.
However, these are the ones I have, I had to look for them on the net, to get the pic to show what I have, and what they look like.

I found a pic with the figures in question... just over my shoulder, in the background.
The Black and Red hardback books are the Manga/Comic from Dark-horse comics, which are *signed* copies by the artists.
Along with the VHS versions of the show, the white case one, is a original RAW version.
The figure in the centre with the masks is DAWN, which I gave to MINN, and under her base are the original copies of the Manga/Comic (which were stacked for a moment) - so don't panic.

This thread ought to stand alone, on its own merit that it tackles a specific topic. Anyone can add to it - and any noobs can necro it as they join up, in my opinion. But then you guys are the mods afterall.
Definitely an earlier incarnation, they were styled after the original manga - so they're certainly accruing in value (especially between collectors of the Lovely Angels).
They look to be in pristine conditon - imho.

Let's see here, the first figure I purchased was Revoltech's Ayanami Rei Fraulein 001. I didn't start collecting until fairly recently, and it's fairly rare that I pick any up. I do have some that friends got me... I think the first is a gashapon Ikari Shinji + PenPen. The thing in the capsule says 平成15, so there's about a 4 year period in between figures.

I don't know what counts as figure. If you mean trading figures, that may be as far back as when I was but a mere child that bought Pokemon toys at the Chinese store.
Earliest srs figure was some Nanoha figmas at Otakon 2009. Set me back $150 to buy 3 figmas. I didn't know the retail prices for figmas at the time. And they were out of print, so there would be some inflation on their value.
For collecting of scaled figures, it started December 2009. The first I ordered was 1/7 Nanoha Exceed mode. But the first I received was 1/4 Konata.
