Confession: I believe most people who say are afraid of clowns are full of this and just say it to get attention or because they (consciously or subconsciously) want a "popular, yet random" phobia to be cool or fit in somehow.
I've never met one person who genuinely had a fear of clowns, the closest is a friend who fears Mimes. He freaks the fuck out if he sees a mime. When he took his mom to see Marcel Marceau he dropped her 2 blocks from the theater to avoid the panoramic posters. Ive seen him get panic attacks on it. But everybody else that I've met seem to be full of shit. They say they are afraid of clowns but it always comes as "OMG I'm super afraid of clowns lol" its sounds insincere and shallow, and when they see a clown (pic or movie etc) all they say is "omg he's so creepy lol" and keep on watching. That's not Colurphobia! Taht's just being a dick.
I find clowns boring and a bit annoying at points, but I did like them as a kid. I went to the Pipo Show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pipo_%28actor%29) when I was a kid and I loved it!
Granted, Killer Klowns from Outer Space and IT freaked the fuck out of me as a kid, but that's as bad as it goes.
In conclusion. It is my Pantsu deduction that most people are full of shit and dont really fear clowns

yeah a loli raping clown in the woods would be something worth fearing (or imitating perhaps?), but other than that clowns are not to be feared.
