  1. As everyone knows, Robots are varied and coming into their own slowly for its the wave of the future, however, my questions is...

"How quickly" will we reach the day when we can't tell human from BoT?

Its slowly starting to happen and yes, we have a long way before we can't tell, but it has to start somewhere... why not with the next generation?

SEOUL (AFP) – Almost 30 robots have started teaching English to youngsters in a South Korean city, education officials said Tuesday, in a pilot project designed to nurture the nascent robot industry.

Engkey, a white, egg-shaped robot developed by the Korea Institute of Science of Technology (KIST), began taking classes Monday at 21 elementary schools in the southeastern city of Daegu.

The 29 robots, about one metre (3.3 feet) high with a TV display panel for a face, wheeled around the classroom while speaking to the students, reading books to them and dancing to music by moving their head and arms.

The robots, which display an avatar face of a Caucasian woman, are controlled remotely by teachers of English in the Philippines -- who can see and hear the children via a remote control system.

  2. in b4 terminator spam

looks like robot technology is becoming more "main stream" than never before

there are a lot of pros and cons to this technology and i'm glad so far its been going to "good use" thus far but it won't be long until the robots fielded in the world's military start to "catch up" right now we have drones and ground scouts but soon we might have the combat equivalent of the work loaders from the alien films or even better(?) the compact mobile suits featured in gundam F91 and victory gundam

well i would love to have a future of Gundam ^^ but i don't think gundams would be the next robots O.o (even though Nippon has tried XD)
i think realistically we might get Wonvers first, and then maybe ACs?...
idk...no wait, we would get S.L.A.Is and then Wonvers and then ACs ^^

  4. Greetings ~

Many topics and Threads have dealt with this subject matter..

    however ~

Due to the influx of new members and those who don't know that other Threads have been created prior...

I think it only fair that this topic continues... maybe a different title or addition is in order?

I am not trying to change your original Title OP, just a recommendation so that the Topic/Thread can thrive, continue, and garnish more entries for discussion.

I don't think we need a individual Threads for each Robot ever created, why not merge them all into one Topic/Thread?

  5. S.L.A.I. units (steel lancers and/or "scoot vehicles") didn't start out as "small units" but were quite large at first then as tech. improved became more compact but the idea that some S.L.A.I. types might make the cut is possible

as for "wanzers" i would like to think is possible but our current tech. prowess is far from that just yet and AC's are even farther than that to obtain right now

  11. Greetings ~

Its been an amazing adventure through these years, being alive, and seeing things change (personally)...

To see hard working people, going to work, following the same routine....

....only to experience that Technology is fastly behind them as a their own shadow.

I applaud the advancement of such, but with such, there will always be.. negatives.

Will we eventually see a Blade Runner reality and Distopia?

Ndeed, which is why I posted this...

GREAT Film, as - (both films) - coincide with the topic on hand and possible realities.

  15. you had to post blade runner didn't you~ :3

perhaps later down the road of human civilization we might also see the "cyberization" of humans as seen in GITS

    also:
imagine the endless possibilities robotics will have for space as the tech. continues to progress we already have such tech now but as it improves so too will our chances of space colonization(?)

and so the circle will come back around...

Despite what everyones opinions are in relation to this certain subject...dolls, robots, sex-machines, and devices...

    ~ face the reality...

Some will encounter such female robotic - dis/pleasure(s) - in the near (and distant) future... it may (or may not) become a common place factor that its a normal thing...

    also...

Humankind will always *find a way* to manipulate the technology and use it for nefarious means as well...

(btw): Yes, thats Gene Simmons from KISS (w/o makeup) as the bad guy!

  20. The day the cyberization of the human brain becomes a reality, as depicted in GitS.
Is the days when we can lose our mortality. And linger on until prosthetic bodies get more and more realistic.
Suffice to say, that the issue with space travel won't be so much about the distances but the endurance of the crews that go on such expeditions. With cyberization, the discussion would be pointless. As long as your brain doesn't seize up and go senile, you could go and explore other star systems at your leisure, and come back more or less whole with a new prosthetic body.
