

Recently released PSP RPG Shining Ark has been attracting praise for the excessively high quality of its character designs and art (gameplay being another matter), with what look to be some of Tony’s most accomplished artwork to date – even if the PSP’s now pathetic hardware hardly seems to do them justice.

Square Enix has been revealing more of its final effort to milk Final Fantasy XIII dry in the form of Lightning Returns, and along with some gorgeous graphics (by ancient PS3 and 360 standards at least), the controversial evolution of Lightning’s ensemble seems to be in full swing.

Australian censors have rated moe alchemy RPG Atelier Totori Plus as “R18+” for its “references to sexual violence,” “high impact” violence, “moderate” sex, and “themes” – a higher rating than they found fit to give any of the GTA, Hitman or Call of Duty games.

Sony has officially confirmed that the PlayStation 4 will be able to play second-hand games after all, after a patent on a method of blocking them and the much enhanced online delivery system of the new console led to much speculation that it would finally axe the used game market with a registration system.

Square Enix has been making news again – this time for posting a loss of 5.7 billion yen in its most recent financial statement, having posted a profit of 5 billion yen for the same period last year – the loss now being blamed on intense competition in the Japanese video game market and the fact that for some inexplicable reason foreigners refuse to buy its fine titles.
