shaft as a studio is a one trick pony. they direct every anime the same. they seem more interested in showing off their modernistic minimalist style rather than setting up a proper scene. they overanimate the slightest gestures like their famous head tilt and they over emphasize the most mundane of scenarios.
all of these animation tricks just seem like a poor substitute for a talentless director.
The problem are all those idiots who continue to throw money at them.
They should have given all the monogatari to white fox. They made a masterpiece with katanagatari.
Oh my fuck, I agree with you SHAFT is pretty terrible and only ever does the same things even if THEY DON'T SUIT THE ANIME AT ALL, but I cannot call these bastards minimalists because that gives off the impression they do as little as the standard for okay or mediocre requires, when ALL THESE BASTARDS DO IS FLOOD EVERY EPISODE WITH ALL OF THEIR OBNOXIOUS EFFECTS. So yes, while they do only ever use the same pool of effects every series the way they spam it...I just don't feel minimalist is the right word for it.
In summary, SHAFT is the worst thing ever.
