A trailer has arrived for battleship girl phenomenon Kantai Collection‘s upcoming Vita game, sure to build fan hype and bound to sell well if not solely due to the overwhelming magnitude of the ship-girl loving fanbase.
The vague trailer:
Despite being initially revealed back in September, few details have been divulged as to what will differentiate the Vita title from its original online counterpart, or whether there will be improvements or extensions made upon the game’s existing mechanics.
Though originally dated to launch this year, the game has been pushed back (much like the highly anticipated anime) to a 2015 spring release.

They need to expand this game series to the west already. I know I'd buy it even if it just had a text translation.
The Japanese are still too butthurt over getting stomped, they'll never put anything but Axis ships in the game or bring it to us. We should just license the gameplay system from DMM and make our own ship girls.
U.S. naval naming conventions would make it a little weird to fapping off to girls with names like Enterprise and Ohio, though. Especially when you consider our destroyers were all named after MEN...
The German ship girls all have male names (even Prince Eugene/Prinz Eugen) so it's probably not much of a problem. A matter of imagination and if you can ignore the fact the names are male names. In Japanese's case though that is a foreign language and name so it's probably easier for them to ignore that fact.
The reason why it's unlikely to get a Western release is actually because of all the past Western bashing of Japanese otaku culture. In a sense we (or our representatives) brought it upon ourselves.
TLDR: the butthurt one is you. You barely even have to read anything in the game to play it, why complain?
I'm not butthurt or complaining, I'm just saying there's no point in begging them to release it to us. They'll never do it, so we might as well make our own if we want American ships in it.
Why license something so trivial? I could whip something up within a 2-weeks vacation. And it wouldn't be mere browser technology either. Of course it would have to be FOSS in order to deflect lawsuits.
And you're completely right about the ships. The larger ones aren't a problem, but no way would I want ship "girls" like Harry E. Hubbard. Heck, even the Brits have a more suitable naming scheme.

They sink and die if you force them to continue on the mission (instead of returning to base) after they got "Critical Damage" and then got damaged again.
The ships are fighting the "Abyssal Fleet Vessels", mangas explained as sunken ships that have lingering negative feelings.
I thought submarines were lolis? Could just be the doujin I read since I'm not too familiar with this...
Sizes of the KanMusume are reflective of their Ship Displacements. So, submarines turns into loli characters is because they're small when compared to Battleships.
