The upcoming live action movie for the titan thwarting Shingeki no Kyojin has given eager fans a brief glimpse of the anime’s well-loved characters in the form of their live-action equivalents.
While the actors in question may not bear an ideal likeness to their assumed roles, (like most live-action anime films) the movie’s producer Yoshihiro Sato mentioned that he cast actors based on the “spirit” of the characters rather than physical resemblance.
Shingeki no Kyojin’s live-action cast equivalent:
Observant fans may notice the disregard for the anime’s original setting, instead opting for what seems to be a post-apocalyptic environment armed to the teeth with tanks and RPGs – currently no explanation for this change exists, nor the ongoing absence of titans.
Shingeki no Kyojin will have 2 live-action films, both of which are to debut summer 2015.

"Spirit of the characters" my ass. Half of these characters are made up from scratch, and are probably included just to give jobs to friends/family/connections of the higher ranking staff. That, and they changed the setting too; why the hell does Hanji have a rocket launcher? This is going to be another failure of an adaptation.
Most of the characters are musicans signed to Amuse Inc.
well, the story isn't going anywhere and doomed thanks to the numerous inconsistencies... so let's milk the shit out of it before the massses realize how mocked they were :)
The blond people dyed their hair black!
I'm out.
Do they even use makeup artists? The least they could do is apply wigs and contacts since they obviously don't want to use anyone other than japanese (which is retarded seeing as they have some of the worst acting possible).
Asians were rare too, meaning that they were legit European and/or other. Not to dye the hair, at least, is kinda stupid and takes away from understanding who they really are. I just don't like separating the fanbase between manga, anime, and movie where they can't compare what they should like equally.
me too. pure japanese cast is boring.
I lol'd.
Mikasa es su casa..
Shut up, fucked latin, only english bitch!
JEJEJE she really look latin
Explanation: In Spanish "Mikasa" sounds exactly like "Mi casa" or in English "My house" (or home).
Mikasa en mi casa...
The character look nothing like the anime but they carry the spirit. Are you high
But you may now the only asian character in the manga is Mikasa (btw she is only half asian, his mother was asian and his father caucasic), and that was somehow relevant to the storyline.
Um... Yeah, this should actually be Western-made, since the ONLY half-asian character is Mikasa. All others are europeans.
SnK seems loosely based on western myths of giants such as the Nephilim in the bible and the Jötunn of Norse mythology.
We should start a kickstarter or donations to get a exorcist to get these spirits out
who is Hiana and why I'm seeing an RPG?
and who is Lil? Are they adding new characters too?
I will answer your rhetorical question.
They should make all the akb48 members take a role for each character and be done with it
Then have them get eaten by titans.
And here I thought that Mikasa was supposed to be the only Asian character in the series.
Armin is a girl right?, in the manga??
I thought Mikasa was the last Japanese person alive? Anime should stay anime. They're going to fuck this up. = \
According to what the series said her being Asian was rare no mention on her being the last one.
her mother was specifically noted as the last pure Asian alive
nah mikasa im pretty sure is the last last chinese girl alive, i could be wrong maybe
Armin and Jean with black hair...
"Satomi" playing "Hans"...beware, it's a trap!
Japanese porn... parody...
really? where?!
the fucken rpg killed it.
I'm confused. Didn't the creator reveal that Armin was a chick?? Note: I truly couldn't give 2 shit about this movie or any other iteration of AoT, but besides not be a chick, why isn't he/she blond???
That comes from an interview with the author, where when asked who was the prettiest girl or something he (supposedly) jokingly said it was Armin. I'm pretty sure he never outright said he was a girl, also the scene where he dresses as Chrysta and gets groped is particularly interesting because the groper tells Armin something like "he changed him that way," why would he say that if Armin was a girl from the beginning? I assumed he got so turned on by Armin he became attracted to pretty boys, thus blaming Arming about his newfound fetish.
I've been out of the loop with the manga for a while though, so I could be wrong.
I didn't have high hopes for this, and now it's confirmed.
A chon as the main role in a Japanese movie. Someone must have paid a lot for the license rights to the movie, and I'll bet you they weren't Japanese.
This is just one of the ways in which Korea and the Korean government tries to parasitize on and eventually subsume Japanese culture. If you look at Western movies including Japanese characters, said characters almost always turn out to be played by Koreans. It's almost as if someone out there was looking for movies including Japanese characters and manipulating/bribing the staff to take on a Korean actor, isn't it?
Oh right, I forgot the massive zainichi media clique in Japan, as well as the Korean directors stinking rich from knocking off Japanese movies in the Korea Wave, and not to speak of the bloodthirsty "anti-discrimination" Korean immigrant groups in the US that brutally pounce on anything that portrays Japanese culture in a positive way.
There's no fucking excuse anymore. You can see with your own eyes the occupation of Takeshima, the historical revisionism (Korean claims to kendo, samurai, yakiniku and ramen, as well as them claiming that their "manhwa" is original to Korea when the very construction of the word is natively Japanese), the IP theft and industrial espionage (Samsung/LG towards Sony and Panasonic) and in this case their perfidious attempts to undermine Japan and its culture. You have no excuse whatsoever to buy into this gook garbage that actively undermines Japanese culture through funneling money into historical revisionism and terrorism attempts (Osaka May 2013 stabbings) as well as attempts to meld the Western perceptions of Korea and Japan.
tldnr
All you people look alike to me. Do you know they have Japanese/Korean/Chinese restaurants in the US? Welcome to my world.
As an Asian American I play the "let's guess who's really running this restaurant!" game, and I lose every fucking time. Seriously I enter a Korean restaurant is ran by Chinese, I go into a Japanese restaurant is ran by Koreans, I go to a Hindi/Chinese fusion restaurant is ran by Japanese (not even kidding)
Nope, nope, hell no, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, and... nope !
"spirit" huh ? I get it, yes it makes perfect sense, not because they're "well- known Japanese celebrities".
"Nope, nope, hell no,[..]"
I agree so much there, the third one is the worst.
He looks so stupid, staring like that just to look like a cool&DARK guy.
Noticed something? Hint check the glowing sparkle on the weapons.
lense flare?
The shitty default Photoshop Lens Flare. Whoever was tasked with making these posters is a complete idiot.
https://pe-images.s3.amazonaws.com/photo-effects/lens-flare/lens-flare-black.jpg
its cheaply done :( this is going to turn out B-rated..
The hell are you talking about?
There is lens flares in every picture even on places where its really out of place.
they're all exactly the same flare copies. Less work for the photoshoppers ;)
Of these posters, Mikasa looks the least Asian. Oh the irony.
That is just messed up.....
That's the point. If you cast only asians, you better make Mikasa white / another race. If anything, she looks too Japanese here.
Is this supposed to be some kind of cynicism? Considering how they changed everything else almost completely, I'm just glad that Mikasa actually looks like the fierce Asian beauty she's supposed to be.
What I mean is, the only reason she looks the "least Asian" is because she completely destroys the Nadeshiko image unconsciously assumed for Asian women even by westerners. It's the only thing they got right, and they got it right perfectly. I'd rather celebrate that than ask for the the ridiculousness to be increased even further.
