Yet another entry into the staggeringly popular Pokémon franchise has been announced as “Pokken Tournament”, a collaborative effort between the producers of Tekken and Soul Caliber that brings the cute and cuddly fantasy critters into the world of 3D arcade fighters – a bizarre decision sure to leave Pokémon enthusiasts at a loss for words.

Pokken Tournament will be coming to Japanese arcades some time in 2015 – though news on a potential console release unfortunately has yet to surface.

Why does that matter? No one asked for anything, they are being made. And I can't speak for your tastes, but Tekken is a great game. Pokemon already fight each other. I'd hardly call a pokemon fighting game with a good engine "frankenstein's monster." Throwing in marketing is just as dumb. Guess what, it's a market. marketing is part of a markets. Mashups are in everything. Should they not do it because the cynics will start crying "baw i didn't want this"?
