In something of an unusual twist on the moe cafe boom, top moe artist and golden swordsman Kishida Mel has designed the maids for an actual maid cafe.
Nagoya based “idol cafe and bar” Carnival☆Stars now boasts costumes designed by Kishida Mel himself, to be part of their regular ensemble:
Even Mel’s design skills were not enough to rescue these poor maids from the horrors of the 3rd dimension it seems – the online reaction has been quite disparaging, praising the cuteness of the illustrations whilst pouring scorn on the “all too real” and “humdrum” costumes they gave rise to.
Mercifully, Mel seems to have pledged not to wear any of the costumes himself, though probably depriving the cafe of several times the attention generated by the actual designs in the process.

great designs, though 2D wears it better than 3D
agreed. The 2D lolis are positively DELICIOUS, but the 19 year old crones of the 3D world almost ruin the 2D ones just by being in close proximity to them :(

The designs are fine, the flesh&bone models arent, tho.
It's designed for girls that can go side by side through a standard door, not singular through the extra wide fire exit in comparison.
I'm sure those women are cute in their own way, but those costumes make them look like someone squeezed an elephant into a ballet tutu.

Maybe if the real life dresses weren't twice the size of the drawn version.
When I look at the concept image, the dress only covers about half a body's length. In the real life images, the dress is over 2/3rds. That's way too big for that kind of design.

I think they are allright, except hair and faces, nothing that tons of makeup and a good quality wig wouldn't fix.

Of course it will look bad. Why hire an animator to design something to be worn by real people. Should've at least let a professional designer advise him because those colored skirts look good on paper but brutally horrible when transformed to 3D.

Mangaka are also referred to as Sensei.

Sorry I didn't realise you were Japanese. Outside of Japan we simply call them Manga authors, or simply an author.
They're comics all right, But Japanese comics are specifically called "manga", so people usually refer to jap comics as Manga, instead of just callin' it a comic. Or maybe just Japanese comics.
Mangaka, doctors, etc. Sensei is not exactly a job, it is more related to status.
Ironically, Kishida doesn't fall under the two categories you mentioned. He's actually an illustrator that does illustration, artwork and character designs.
Oh, and outside of Japan people don't say "manga", they are called "comic" :P

He did a good job. I'm not saying it's Good tho. Tbh, I don't know how to clearly say it in words but.. It's kinda like those maid outfits look more like poorly made costumes than clothing... I hope I'm making sense to whoever reads this.
It's with any cosplay or when I see someone try dressing up with 2d clothing look-alike: Normal clothes look WAY better.
