Doraemon “Child Porn” Shizuka Censorship Shocks

shizuka-chan-censorship-4

Even the tame service of classic kiddy anime Doraemon is now being subjected to random glare, with the latest proving that the assurances of the Tokyo government that “Shizuka’s scenes will not be subject to the ban” were hollow after all.

The latest broadcast version:

shizuka-chan-censorship-1

shizuka-chan-censorship-2

shizuka-chan-censorship-3

The original scene as formerly broadcast:

The introduction of such cack-handed censorship to a beloved childhood favourite of millions of Japanese was quickly noticed and soon caused quite a stir online, with most suggesting it had but one main cause – the Tokyo loli ban and the lingering efforts of PM Abe’s cohort of cultists and emperor worshipping maniacs to pass a nation-wide loli ban and finally rid Japan of the scourge of freedom of expression for good.

In particular, claims that Doraemon-type shower scenes and incidental nudity would never be affected by the ban were made specifically by the authorities (“Shizuka-chan’s bathing scenes will not subject to the law”) – and now seem to have shown to be invalid, for whether in response to direct or perceived pressure, the scenes are gone and new programming seems unlikely to ever attempt anything similar.

Broadcasters Asahi TV have apparently been refusing to comment at all as just why the scenes were excised when asked by their fellow media jackals, leaving the circumstances surrounding the glare unknown.

Classic Shizuka-chan by way of comparison:

shizuka-chan-censorship-7

shizuka-chan-censorship-8

Whereas late night anime is notorious for employing vast amounts of DVD sales enhancing glare and steam, supposedly because terrestrial TV no longer feels it can let a nipple slip onto the airways (though in fact at this point only the most credulous would believe the uncensored BD sales model did not have something to do with it all), mainstream broadcast television is a more reliable barometer of actual politics, suggesting media giants are feeling especially sensitive about something.

Online there is plenty of enthusiastically uninformed speculation as to how an innocent scene depicting a little girl having her clothes torn off by a vacuum cleaner could possibly be subject to such a ban:

“All those wretches who supported that law were saying specifically that Shizuka’s scenes were examples of the stuff which would be completely unaffected.”

“Absolutely, they had ‘self-restraint’ imposed on them so now they are going to be highlighted as causing problems if they don’t go along with it, which will then be used to strengthen the ban. We might as well make all the women wear burqas and embrace Islam now.”

“You got from Shizuka-can all the way onto Islam, well done…”

“Those leftist bastards as Asahi are trying to discredit the Abe administration by making it look as if they were pressured into it!”

“Buy the DVD you whiners!”

“Come on, didn’t Magi have nipples? All this is overblown.”

“That was a djinn. No way would a human female have visible nipples these days.”

“The original took things a bit far really.”

“As if, it is not like they showed her vagina. People pay way too much attention to this.”

“What is this with the glare, a late night ero-anime!?”

Tentacle porn predates western influence, Japan was always skittish about nudity.

It's not about the tentacle porn, it's about everyone throwing a fit about "the children" and "wardrobe malfunctions".

Nobody used to give a shit about that stuff. Our society is becoming more twisted by the day.

At the rate things are going, it will soon be illegal to show any kind of skin. Farting will be a death sentence. God have mercy on you if you try to take a shower naked, or pull your undies down when you need to relieve yourself -- a free one way trip to Guantanemo Bay, genital electrocution provided free of charge.

In America it's not child porn, it's art, and thus protected expression.

Even in anime with extreme violence, you'll never see a vagina. They would show the internal sex organs of an eviscerated woman but the vagina they're attached to would be mosaic'd

Which is hypocrisy of the worst sort. Violence is okay but sex (something that we are made for from birth apparently) is bad?

This puritanical nonsense is getting severely old.

Depends on context. They showed them in various manga in Shounen Ace - not even aimed at adults - but in the context they were shown, it wasn't a sex scene or anything. I think Eden's Bowy did it.

Counterintuitively to Western standards, it used to be that nudity was somewhat allowable as long as you weren't depicting an adult too.

Judging by the kind of manga it runs, Shounen Ace looks like it's mainly for "young adult" otaku, even if it calls itself a shounen magazine. I'm not really talking about manga, though, which much more easily evades censorship.

Creating, viewing and sharing drawn cp is punishable with a fine of at least 75,000€ and a 5 year prison sentence. This is one of those few, rare times where America's the wimpy coward and France the badass.

Finland, Denmark and Spain however are still pederast safe havens unwilling to accept EU guidelines on this matter.

Are you saying that France has harsher laws on Child Porn than the US?

From Justice.gov's Citizen's Guide to U.S. Federal Law on Child Pornography.

"Any violation of federal child pornography law is a serious crime, and convicted offenders face severe statutory penalties. For example, a first time offender convicted of producing child pornography under 18 U.S.C. § 2251, face fines and a statutory minimum of 15 years to 30 years maximum in prison. A first time offender convicted of transporting child pornography in interstate or foreign commerce under 18 U.S.C. § 2252, faces fines and a statutory minimum of 5 years to 20 years maximum in prison. Convicted offenders may face harsher penalties if the offender has prior convictions or if the child pornography offense occurred in aggravated situations defined as (i) the images are violent, sadistic, or masochistic in nature, (ii) the minor was sexually abused, or (iii) the offender has prior convictions for child sexual exploitation. In these circumstances, a convicted offender may face up to life imprisonment."

They are NOT about protecting children but about punishing people who dare to violate society's 'likes and dislikes' on this subject.

Anonymous 4:08, there is NO such thing as a 'normal sexual relationship'.

ALL sexualities are normal, it's just that some are disliked by one person or another and that is why they are made illegal.

That is not a good enough reason to make them illegal in the real world however.

I can understand making illegal a sexuality that harms other people physically WITHOUT their permission, nothing else.

HOW exactly is it protecting them? Oh, right, buy punishing perpetrators. See my other comment about your stupidity.

    >> But there's words you didn't mention, like "consequence" and "deterrent".

Do you really believe the nonsense your spouting or are you just trolling me?

How the fuck does a deterrent against instincts work? Answer: it doesn't. Because it's not a rational decision. Compare it to fasting. Only you are required to do it your entire life. At some point most people will just loose their rationality and do what they want. Loose their mind for minute, so to speak.

    >> and you can bet they planned to make that list longer.

Obviously, once you did it once all that's really left is to do it again. Punishment won't change much anyway. So there's no point to hold it in anymore.

Do you notice the ridiculousness of your statements or does this make any sense to you?

Protecting someone by punishing someone else after the fact...?

Does this make sense to anyone? Protecting means prevention, not punishment. Does a law that punishes someone after he did something wrong protect anyone? Geez, guess we don't need to lock our doors to protect our property anymore. Laws punishing thieves will do that just fine.

@04:08 - what if they deprive themselves?

    Comment by Anonymous

@04:41 - I never said that it actually prevented anything, I said it punished them, exactly as you did. They're punished by what is set in place to protect, did I say something wrong? It's a fact, isn't it? It's the same thing you said, actually. But there's words you didn't mention, like "consequence" and "deterrent". If nothing else, it's there to make victim's families and the general public feel better. There is better ways of prevention being exercised (rooting out predators on the internet through popular chat circles, etc). But on top of that, when they finally do put a pedo behind bars they are keeping him from reaching more future victims, so there's that at least. Pretty much every child sex predator has a list of at least a dozen victims before they're caught, and you can bet they planned to make that list longer.

Yes, it does have a lot to do with feminism. ALL of these laws only started being proposed when the feminists started spouting "A child having sex before 18 is BRAINWASHED into X and Y!"

Before 1970 (the start of Second Wave Feminism) pedosexuality was accepted and the ONLY times that the statutory rape laws were enforced were if a rich person had their daughter propositioned by a poor person.

In all other cases, 'da law' just ignored sex between adults and children 99% of the time.

Good "girl gamers" are just simply "good gamers", and they play what other good gamers play - good games. Their games already exist and they're not complaining, unless they're complaining for more GOOD GAMES. I know more girls who play the so-called "sexist" games and actually complain a hell of a lot less about them than the males who play them.
