An “ultimate” (perhaps as in “final”) tie-up between the mouldering Lucky Star franchise and the shiny new Kantai Collection franchise has just put to sea, in the form of a Gamers Konata-Shimakaze crossover cover, with a Prisma Illya cover for Animate for good measure.
Lucky Star, as some may recall, traces its origins back to the very origins of the moe boom and is now celebrating its 10th anniversary, hence its sudden resurrection:

10 years!? im getting fucking old.... Now that you mention is Sankaku, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime adaption is approaching its 10 years. Im fucking Ancient now.
believe me, you're not that old compare to some lurkers around here
actually i'm a fan of retro 70s and 80s manga/anime and started to be much more of a fan in the 90s.Not officially an otaku(like The Melonpan)but more like an archivist somewhat like in between Carl Gustav Horn and Toren Smith kinda thing.
31 years old and am Still like a 17 year old Otaku. never gonna grow up am i?
I did rather die young at heart.
It's just manga tho.Anime aired around 6 years ago or so.
So Konata would technically be 27 by now?
They call those 'legal loli'.
Legal lolis are more common in Asia than in West.
West on the other hand have more tall and muscular men. Not sure if it is a fair trade.
Always amazed that Australia, which was
founded as a penal colony could become
so backward thinking when it comes to loli's.
You would think them more progressive.
In Australia there are no legal loli.
@ Anon 13:50 it depends who you are.
For a hetero female it's probably a very fair trade.
But big boobs also are more common in the west and you get other hair and eye colors such as blonde ie you can find a real life Sena aka Meat but unfortunately ham beasts also are more common.
In australia, flat chested women are ilegal.
@ Dia so in OZ if a woman is not gifted by genetics she must under go the knife if she's to show her chest?
That's pretty harsh.
if you ask me... it isnt a trade. not a trade at all.
Tsukasa Hiiragi is STILL my Wiafu.
Lucky Star riding a success of another show? I'm incredibly surprised.
Should of been Magipoka.
Too obscure.
C'mon, make another Lucky Star anime season or OVA. There were plenty of comics that took place in their high school that the could say happened before the graduation episode.
They should've done something to celebrate it... OVA or something.
I agree with this.
That needs time, people and resources to be done.
Lucky Star x Fate Kaleid: 10/10
I like anime but lucky star is the dumbest shit I have ever seen...
ur face is the dumbest shit i have ever seen

I recall K-on! being the moe boom.
If you want to be accurate, taking several academic scholars' research into account (Otsuka Eiji, Azuma Hiroki, etc...), the moe boom began way, way back after Japan entered the post-modern period in the 1990s with Evangelion and Ayanami Rei.
This site doesn't even know what moe is. They just scream "MOE" when they should be saying "Kawaii"
What about Sasami in TENCHI MUYO and especially when she got her own spin-off as PRETTY SAMMY where Pretty Sammy and Pixy Misa were major figures in proto-moé fandom?
Around the same time, just barely pre-EVANGELION, there was also Hotaru Tomoe/Sailor Saturn. Some people claim the term "moé" itself was derived from Tomoe.
Then there are proto-proto-proto-moé characters in the 1980s like C-Ko from PROJECT A-KO, Hikaru Hiyama from KIMAGURE ORANGE ROAD (not to mention Kyosuke's sisters), and all those Pierrot magical girls like CREAMY MAMI.
Don't even bother. I've tried to explain it countless times before, they just won't get it.
Even the first iterations of Samsami and Mihoshi were proto moe blob characters.
and Chibi Moon too.Fancy Lala also started an semi-idol crazed.
K-On isnt the moe boom, its more the girls in clubs being cute boom. Those existed before it, but after it got popular it was like everyone wanted a slice of the pie and there was a surge of boring anime trying to be like K-On. Whilst K-On was a good moe title, it influenced a 'plague' of inferior moe titles.

How old are you!?
Enough to make obscure jokes about it : http://www.suchablog.com/images/2008-fev/timotei_herisson.jpg
Timotei is obscure now?
