Kyoukai no Kanata, Kyoto Animation’s offering for the autumn 2013 season, has been generating some anticipation with its latest trailers, spurring hope amongst moeblob fans that the studio may yet recover its Type B laurels after the disasters of Tamako Market and Free!
The trailers indicate it has rather more cute girls than their latest offering and a reassuring absence of cockatiels:

Tamako Market wasn't that bad.. ... kind of boring, but certainly not bad. At least it wasn't aimed at fushoshi.
I guess that's true. I had higher expectations for Kyoani works prior to Tamako and that's all more or less gone down the toilet.

I still don't get it why Free! defenders are loathed here. I mean, Sankaku makes an article about it every episode. If Sankaku hated it, why make articles about it weekly? It only makes it more hyped than ruined.

What they don't tell you is that the trailer contains all of the action scenes from the entire series, and the rest of the show consists of the characters sitting about in the school club room looking cute and talking about how bored they are.
Might have to watch it anyway though.

I haven't seen Tamako Market yet, but I'd call Hyouka a major disaster (thanks to Retardanda and horrible "mysteries" aka "questioning random daily occurrences", also overdramatic characters, repetitive soundtrack, slow pacing and other things)

Sadly, some insight into how Kyoto's business model is run now makes me doubt that will ever happen.
Kyoto seems to do projects they have intellectual property control over. Almost all their new shows are like this. So even if a show like "Tamako's Market" doesn't do well, They still turn a small profit because they don't have to share revenue with 3rd party property rights holders.
It may be a sound business strategy. But I think they're screwing over their old school fans by doing this.

It would seem those "dream battle" sequences in ChuniKoi were a dress rehearsal for Kyo-Ani's return to the battle anime genre. (Though it could be asked why they did not return to doing FMP)
Because now KyoAni only animates its own franchises. It's much more profitable for them since this way they receive all the money from the merchandising.

Gawd it's just another one of those fucking anime where the girl has the powers while the male main protagonist is a whiny weak bitch who can only make speechs that nobody really gives a fuck about. If they had gave him some powers too that didn't completely suck ass like like in other manga I would actually consider watching this.
Maybe this show will have KyoAni moeblobs bleed. That would be refreshing. Although I've had a habit of watching the KyoAni show of the season (excluding Free), this time I'm actually looking forward to it, due to the possible action offered.
