I actually did like how this bellydancing looked like actual dancing. I find it kinda refreshing to see a dance in anime that doesn't look like something a group of idols would dance. And I do feel it worked well for the plot, because it adds a little culture to the world.
It still is, however, like most of the stuff that appears on screen in this anime, mostly eyecandy.
