Holographic princess Hatsune Miku has been blessing pizzeria chain Domino’s with her support, including appearing on the delivery mopeds for Tokyo orders and providing her likeness for a rather elaborate Miku smartphone app.
The suitably cringe-inducing video, featuring no less than the boss of Domino’s:
In addition to the Mikuped, their new smartphone app also boasts a GPS Mikulocator, Miku-pizza AR interaction and Vocaloid replacement of Domino’s awful order tracking video.
Domino’s Japan is already well known for its eccentric marketing (recent promotions saw them offering discounts to patrons who received their pizza wearing a beard, Fuuka style “dasa-T,” twintails, or speaking their hometown dialect), although aside from an interminable One Piece promotion anime tie-ups have traditionally been the exclusive preserve of mega-rival Pizza Hut.

I don't know about anyone else, but my reaction was basically: that commercial is so awkward and gross, but DAMN those pizza boxes are awesome and the app looks really cool!
It's all a gimmick, but I fell hard. Everything looks really cute!

That CEO is pretty ballsy. We need more CEOs like him who are not afraid to endorse another culture and feel proud of doing it. (at least on video)
He is obviously having a lot of fun with it. And he is ballsy - Dominos not long ago had their ad campain in America based on, "we admit that our pizza sucked, so we will do better from now on"
then he saw the collections of the otakus and suddenly dollar bill signs replaced his eyeballs.

Typically I bitch about how "they shot another bullet into our lead-filled culture" but this time it was less so; more like the commercial itself kind of sucked and dragged her down indirectly. Or maybe I just noticed it less.
I'm an American used to 15 second commercials, so this two-minute sermon feels abnormally slow. I really doubt this was broadcast. More likely it shows up in web ads (lol, noobs.) or in android/ios software.
The most uncomfortable 2 minutes of that man's life.

There are plenty of free Miku themes for Android phones that you can download for free if you just search on Google.
Just make sure that you have a launcher app installed first before downloading the Miku theme, otherwise it won't work properly.
