Japanese don’t use the word “selfish”. I read the original in 2ch, and found that he use “我儘”.
我儘 usually has nothing to do with whether the one will acquire benefit or not.
According to dictionary, 我儘 means “headstrong； incorrigible； mutinous； selfish； wayward； willful”.
