  I meant the whole “original” manga story, especially her version of the Sisters Arc and now the ongoing Daihaiseisai Arc which pretty much introduces the rest of the Level 5′s that didn’t appear in Index. and thanks to the shitty Big Spider Arc and Poltergeist Arc which are fillers, we didn’t get the Sisters Arc in season 1.

  For Railgun, the sisters Arc starts at the 10th of August, in Index it officially starts with Touma getting involved is at the 20th. Both series are in the same timeline. the first arc of Railgun, the Level Upper arc was even before Touma met Index, the Index Arc started in the middle of the Level Upper arc. Touma and Mikoto first met in June 17, the first scene you saw in the 1st episode of Index, the problem with the anime it lacks time marks.

  Basically 10 days before the Sisters Arc started in Index. In railgun you’re going to see all the effort poured by Mikoto to stopping the Sister’s project.

Misaka’s effort to shut down all science labs associated with the Sisters project was only hinted in Index, it was then developed more in Railgun In the Daihaiseisai arc,it completely branches off from Index, only sharing the timeline. My main reason for Railgun = More high level Esper fights.
