I'm not trying to argue with you, but my personal experience is different: generally speaking, several people would fall for someone "pretty", that's true, but it doesn't mean that I'd have found my partner among "most people". I also found that what lots of women believe to be fat isn't in the eyes of several men. I have huge complexes about my thighs, which are my boyfriend's favourite thing about my body. I'd say that "pretty" is a wider spectrum than you or I may think, once you do go out there in the world, and trying to conform to that has been more of a hindrance than a successful thing in my life. The "partner that you desire" is also a very subjective thing: sure enough, some people complain that no one likes them even though they apply the same standards when looking at other people for possible partners. On the other hand, what we're presented with when looking for attractive people is often now what I would call attractive - heck, I've found people attractive in the past that I now wonder what I was thinking at the time to have such poor taste.
