You clearly haven’t read past the first line of my comment. As I said, if there actually is a plot, and given how absurdly over the top the ecchi is in To Love Ru, it would make a hentai for the ages. And you can’t say hentai is boring and then turn around and say ecchi is fun to watch. They’re the same thing or have you not realised ecchi is softcore to hentai’s hardcore pornography? It’s all titillation of a varying degree.

I just don’t understand why they don’t take the leap over to being a full hentai. It’s sailing so close to that divide. I admit I haven’t watched or read it in ages so perhaps there actually is a plot there but even if that’s the case it would still be a better hentai. The very best hentais are the ones with a good plot to emotionally invest you with the characters.
