Too far down the uncanny valley for me. I’ve been hoping they’d put out DLC to fix the faces and unmottle their skin, but they haven’t, so I’m not touching it – I already have DoA games where they haven’t screwed up the fighting mechanics.

I played Evil Zone/Eretzvaju, but it didn’t make much of an impression on me when it was new… Actually I think I found it pretty bad, but maybe I’m confusing it with Gowcaizer… either way, I only rented it.

Thanks. I agree DoA2 was the peak. You don’t need 6 attack buttons and an intricate combo system to make a solid fighting game – I played DoA2 with friends for years and we still encountered new animations and scenarios sometimes when attacking sides/backs. It was actually better than most modern fighters since it was about the exchange of blows, blocks, throws and counters rather than who can get the first hit off to chain into a 50 hit combo for half the match – that’s just recitation. I’ve been into anime for long enough to realize an important thing: Most of the shows that really deserve to have a sequel, should never get one. That’s right. What makes you think the sequel will be just as good? Does anyone remember the 90s “-ash” rehash wave? Bubblegum Crash, Dirty Pair Flash, Nuku Nuku Dash, Macross 7 Trash… No, thanks. Keep them. Let shows like Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Panty & Stocking, etc just sit as they are. There are a lot of good runs of multiple seasons of modern …

There’s good stuff in any era. Higurashi, lots of SHAFT stuff, even weird fanservice shows like Monster Musume, as long as they’re original. But yeah, most of this is obscure to me too and I watch a fair bit of anime… I just have a massive cache of older stuff to catch up on while more and more hits the market.

Searched おじモン on Canadian Apple store… found. Confirmed it’s available outside Japan.

Do you know the eyeglass market in Japan? (I don’t…) It could just be that they’re not under the thumb of the Luxottica price fixing cartel over there. I order prescription eyeglasses from the USA (via China I suspect) for $10-20 sometimes and they work great. With modern tech there’s no good excuse for glasses costing upward of $100 unless they’re crafted as fine jewelry.

“Circle lenses” – they make your irises look bigger, so if you open your eyes wide, you can get a “cute, anime look.” …in theory.
