Comment on Police Investigate AKB48 Child Porn: “The Boy Was White!” by vegeta897:

“Police say the fact that the boy pictured appears to be white is the driving force behind the investigation: “we have taken into account that a boy of European descent was used, as punishments for child pornography offences there are more severe than in Japan and it may become an international issue” – apparently indicating it would have been acceptable to use a mere Asian child.”

How is that quote indicating that? The quote clearly says that the issue may be more serious IF european laws are involved, because their punishments for this kind of thing are harsher. Keyword harsher. As in, it would be worse than it already is. That does not indicate that if it wasn’t worse than it already is, it would be fine.

Further, the quote cited didn’t even talk about how acceptable anything was. It simply said that if international laws got involved, it would be worse. Which is plainly true, for the reason given in the quote itself. The article is clearly trying to make it sound silly (which is a staple of Sankaku articles, and I say this with affection) by creating a false implication.

_More_ acceptable, yes. What I quoted did not say ‘more’ acceptable. There’s a difference between the two. I’m not just being pedantic here. Take this example: Jumping out of a second floor window is safer than jumping from the fifth floor, but that doesn’t make it safe.
