Kotoura-san has made it all the way from humble web manga to the giddy heights of minor hit gag anime – being acclaimed by some as the funniest of the season, and inciting more enthusiasm even than the belated “4th” season of Minami-ke (and in fact it shares the same director as both the legendary first season of Minami-ke, and the same voice talent as a certain cephalopod invader).
First, Third, and Eleventh episode = SAD
Others = Funny
This is one of the BEST anime on this season, rather than “Moe girls doing a stupid things” or “Too much fan service that makes that Anime looks like a semi-porno or hentai”, Kotoura-San really focus on the story and humor, totally worth watching !
The Corps is mother The Corps is father
She is grandgrandmother of Kevin Vacit
I know it’s a comedy but watching the first half
I couldn’t help thinking that’s why kids come to school
with assault rifles. What a heartbreaking first half!
Looks like it might be a winner.
Excellent start for 2013.
Agree. This show was a pleasant surprise in a season where the only good show were Chihayafuru 2.
Yes, it’s really funny has stupidly emo this is.
She can fuckin’ read minds!
Can you imagine all the cool and glorious shit you can do with that?!?
Instead, she’s an absolutely clueless waste of potential.
It’s starting to look like whiny shit series.
Seeing her use this power for something fun, meaningful, or novel would have been much more interesting.
The downside is finding out what relatives and
friends really think of you and everything you say and do. Might make you crazy after awhile. I think you’d have to grow a thick skin not to be affected.
Hmmm cute loli’s, a touch of pervertedness, and good laughs?
Seems like a instant win to me
Honestly only picked up the show after I saw this post..
Glad I did.
It’s the best first episode I’ve seen this season. The first half tore my heart out. How horrible a thing for her mother to say. Couldn’t imagine how crushing that would be. I had tears running down my cheeks. And then it turns into a comedy!? WOW!
Hope they can keep this level of quality over the course of the series.
Didn’t read the comic, nor seen the show. But the first images kind of gave me dark impressions.
Then there’s all smiles and giggles.
That mood swing is what makes it great. Experience how the other side feels…
in other anime, this mind reading ability also called satori,
mostly for battle / fighting anime
and now satori in comedy, let see how it works
“I foresee your tsukkomi..!!”
Am I watching the same anime? I just about lost it during the cat scene.
unofficial Mitsudomoe S3?
that’s the first anime came to my mind when i saw the character design.
Same people, that’s why
Thank you sankaku for not only covering manly perverted anime. Looks like you’re changing.. I like this change.
Also thank you for the return of aya hirano news.
I probably would have gotten some up votes if it were not for that 2nd part. haha
Pic 14.
Lolicon alert!
when I see her blank face…she remind me of luffy when Ace died
so many better comments yet you read mine, tough luck taylor
great I can’t watch one piece now that I know ace died. thanks anon.
Both scenes really hit hard.
dat randosel
I didn’t really know what to expect from the anime but the first half of the show really brought me down, granted its a anime but besides the phychic part what happend to her does happen to real people. I fell in love with the series still.
Read this article on Sankaku, left for about 25 minutes to watch this show, came back to comment on how good it was.
Seriously, this was fantastic. So many emotions packed into one episode. And the humor felt odd at first, but give hope that this could be a truly heart-warming series.
I’m impressed.
How come he imagines her with large breasts even though she’s clearly flat-chested??
Because he sees her as a valid romantic partner even though they are realistically too young to have sex.
Because girls like to imagine themselves differently inside their heads.
It’s the guy who imagines her that way. She could just read his mind and knows that he is having dirty thoughts of her.
I didn’t know about the anime’s genre when starting to watch it, so the mood whiplash after the first half hit me out of nowhere.
Watching anime never felt so fun.
That’s an exaggeration, but it was a fine first episode. If the rest of the show keeps up the fun and comedy, this will be one of the top anime of the season.
Man, that opening depressed the hell out of me! I barely even knew the character and I felt so damn bad for her. I hope they don’t just go straight comedy going forward.
I thought the same.
Makes a lot of time an anime that does not begin with an episode so dramatic.
Although after so many problems because of the gift she had to learn to talk less ….
The way is to check the next episodes and is perhaps a good anime comedy (as Boku ha tomodachi disappointed as premiere)
agreed, if the latter half wasnt so funny i wouldve ended up crying
Girls crying and hurt kittens. Powerful stuff.
The first half had me thinking I had the wrong anime.
I too…
Best first ep of the season imo.
totally agree with you sir
FKING BEST OF THE BEST.. so far.. =)
Best mother of the season imo.
F*ck the mother……with tentacles >.>
Indeed best first episode in general in a long time, i hope the series keeps this up!
a long, long time
This is epic!
Best first ep for me too
Best first ep I’ve probably ever seen in general.
Too bad it’s a comedy. Would love the drama.
Didn’t you see any foreshadowing?
People don’t care to pay enough attention to foreshadowing. The first ep made me T_T. I hope it will delve further into resolving her issues. There are many good places they can take it, I just hope we arrive at one.
Best anime. Only issue is that he imagines her with larger breasts when her loli body is perfect as is…
It would have been funnier if she had said, “Hey, my boobs are nowhere near that big, you need to get your eyes checked.”
I guess he isn’t a sankaku pedofile.
loli, good enough
1 ep was shit.
First part was there for shock value and felt much false (not TOTALLY false, but going on, you saw how much obvious it became), second part was cheap you-saw-it-coming unfunny gags.
It’s sad that simply saying that you dislike something gets you automatically labeled as a hater.
It’s “either like it or fuck you” with people these days.
Just disliking does not make you a hater. But claiming something is bad just because it doesn’t appeal to you is a different story.
Opinions are subjective. One person’s opinion is not a criteria for determining weather something is good or not.
Because it’s a common trait for those who intentionally use harsh words in order to drawn attention from many people who like it.
Nope. Many shitty posts can get up vote here, actually. lol
Read the first post of Da Capo III… So, no. Your argument is null. Anon can easily get downvoted. Simple because most people think that Anon with aggro attitude = obvious troll.
well seems like he wont be a lover.
He’d get downvoted and called a hater regardless of whether he used harsh words or not.
You mean a comment like “This episode was genuinely horrible, I dislike it and here’s why…” wouldn’t get downvoted and the author wouldn’t receive less-than-polite replies? Right.
There’s no way to express your displeasure with something these days without getting called a hater or worse. Not on SanCon, anyway.
I remember that one comment on a recent post regarding the new QB trailer. Commenter said he dislikes it and listed several reasons why – guess what – instantly downvoted and called a faggot, because apparently, someone assumed he didn’t like boobies.
Not sure which comment you’re referring to, but he called it ‘shit’, he didn’t say ‘I dislike it’.
I could’ve used some word other than “shitty” but… we’re on sancom, guys. You have to admit that it makes no difference.
Anyway, seems I was the only one who disliked the show. Oh well, at least now I know.
Because “this is shitty” is not synonymous with “I really, really disliked this”
Stop fucking nitpicking.
Hello Mr.Hater. Would you like a can of spam?
Unfunny gags, he says…
Hey, I’m not an “hater”: not gonna see anymore for saying that’s a bad series, nor gonna spam about next episodes (which will not touch my HD).
Just saying I’ve watched first ep, thought it shitty, not gonna see any more. Mostly I’m just curious if everyone loved it or not.
I am the original “shitty” poster (eheheh), and anon 21:39 explained it for me better than I could’ve.
I’ll just say a thing: I’d have said the shitty part were just the jokes (and no, I do like this kind of jokes, but these seemed very you-saw-it-coming), and the first part was okay… but at the end of the episode, I had this feeling that the first tried too hard to make the protagonist likeable in a “thoughtful” way. I mean, at least for a gag anime.
Many people felt in a similar way that Madoka was almost “pornish” in its way of showering the characters with tragedy; here I just felt it… insincere (for the record, about Madoka, I don’t concur at all, but that’s another story),
What’s bad about “cheap you-saw-it-coming unfunny gags?”
Not everybody finds this kind of humor funny, you know.
I, for instance, hated every minute of Nichijou and Azumanga, because all the gags were awfully overused and stupid. People screaming and the same gag repeated through 3 episodes just isn’t funny to me.
Shitty might’ve been too harsh a word, yes, but we’re on the internet, so who cares.
Stop being so touchy. One comment about how someone finds something “shitty” doesn’t make a hater.
If you are not a “hater”, you wouldn’t be using words like “shitty” and “cheap you-saw-it-coming unfunny gags”.
