This sounds so devious. I don’t know about the demon world, but it doesn’t take a Hjalmar Schacht to realize that with humans, a local economy may rely on war – because it then looks to wrest value from contributors outside of its scope – but when you say ‘both’, it’s like founding an economy on mutual thievery. It’d simply work as trade, but with much more overhead. So that’s not what keeps it running.

Then, unless there’s some sort of Gibbsian grief seed involved, it looks like the world suffers from a problem of motivation (and education, they are ever close). Which stems from bad management more often than not. So the presented heuristic solution may in fact be tailored not to the specifics of the field of influence, but of the executive elements. And since I know economics majors can be very good at matter-of-factly and non-manipulative motivation, I figure they just appointed the wrong one as their demon lord.

  Yes, but after going through the episode I find this is full of the usual insufferable cliches.
