I love the haruhi franchise buying all books and cant wait for the next one to be released.

  @21:54 The point is that it used to be much better than it is nowadays. As for the culture. If you’ve been there and not just stayed in Tokyo, you’re bound to get a fairly good grasp of that but it’s a receding culture in all fairness. Same for the landscape etc. A huge chunk of said landscape isn’t even safe to travel in any more. Cue Fukushima.
