White Devil vs Red Comet is the only thing that qualifies as true rivalry in this list.

Pfft. Amuro and Char butted heads maybe four times in the series, and they're only "rivals" in the sense that nobody else matches them-- they're shoehorned into the role because there isn't anyone else that can fill it from their respective sides, and later it's not even so much a rivalry as Char being a thick-headed downer and Amuro having to slap some sense into him. (Presumably because he never comes within arm's reach of Bright.)
Lupin and Zenigata spend damn near every other episode at each others' throats, and it's regularly shown that others can match wits with the both of them. Lupin could probably take the old man out easily if he cheated, but he works against him on even grounds: it's a duel between respected foes. For all the huff and puff Zenigata makes about doing anything to take Lupin down, he doesn't want it to be handed to him on a platter, he wants to straight-up outwit him.
Gundam's a good show, but the "rivalry" is tepid at best. They fight each other only because they have to. They're on opposing sides. They even end up working together several times, and their interaction mostly boils down to "yeah, I believe the same thing as you, but you're a dick, so no." There are also just as many times that either one has tried to short-change the other in a fight.
Lupin and Zenigata are polar opposites in creed and desire: chaos and order, shadow and light, yin and yang, Gadget and Claw. Evenly matched, they fight ever onward. They hate each other deeply, but respect each other too much to cheapen it. A far better rivalry than a self-centered prong with delusions of grandeur and a whiny runt that waffles more than IHOP.

Oh yeah, here comes the shounem jump tard whining because zoro vs mihawk, ichigo vs renji and others aren't in the list.
UC is overrated. Japan loves its crappy space soap operas too much. Gundam's pretty awesome, but look at the main hero/villain dynamics for ninety percent of the "universe defining" subseries (IE, anything that's not in a pre-existing universe, like UC). Wing: Heero/Milliardo. Seed: Kira/Athrun. Unicorn: Banagher/Frontal.
Milliardo, Frontal, and Char even have the same "Blonde hair/white mask/red mech" shit going. The ones that don't, don't wear masks at all, because fuck, that wouldn't look right, they're not blonde ponces! (And one pilots a GREEN suit! The travesty!)
They're practically carbon-copying the Amuro/Char dynamic for every damn series. Unicorn even double-dips in that they're basically rebooting UC WITHIN THE FUCKING UC STORYLINE.
Amusing, though, that the ones that don't fall into the UC framework until recently were relatively panned in Japan but did halfway decent across the pond in America, and Japanese honestly don't understand why we like Wing or God Gundam. BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT FUCKING UC ALL OVER AGAIN.
So, yeah. UC Gundam? A *little* overrated. Plenty of the side-stories and tangent shows about UC characters that aren't Amuro and Char (or carbon copies of them) are quite good, but Amuro/Char?

Ranma Ryoga is acceptable but in the end ryoga more content living as a pig or be with Akari.
Ayaka and Ryoko, in the end less hostile to each other since its looks like ryoko winning tenchi.
Vash and Knives, its a complex sibling feeling rather than rivals, vash not keen on fighting knives. they were happy together, only in the end they fight in anime, still doesnt quite capture rivalry.
i have to agree on gintama, especially with gintoki (and katsura) vs takasugi's ideal is totally opposed even though they were once ally. now they both want to kill each other.
plus the list have scryed rivalry. its total win list

I watch Gintama. Its one of my favorate anime, for that matter... But Gintoki and Takasugi topping this list just seems wrong. I didn't even realize they had a rivalry. Gintoki with Hijikata, maybe. Or even Jirocho. But Takasugi? Who even voted on this list?
