Is it a 'fake'? Can you call a drum set a 'fake'? It's still a round wooden hollow cylinder with a vibrating head attached. As much as I dislike Miku, she is very real. However, CBS did indeed nail one thing on the head; it is just a hologram; not a living thing. No matter how advanced they become, Vocaloids is just another instrument; similar to a Piano, Guitar and EWI. Nothing more.

The point is that the "Pop Star" Hatsune Miku is a fake. She isn't a real personality. Hatsune fans, I love her as well, but she is a piece of programming for Producers to load up in DAW and program so a synth can emulate a voice. She isn't real persona.

You say hatsume Miku is fake? that's like saying Anime is fake. Sure to a certain extent anime is not real but that doesn't stop you from buying the DVDs, CDs, merchandise, going to live musicals (if there is one), getting autographs from the voice actors or cosplaying. Sure we can't get Miku's autograph but that doesn't stop us from supporting and respecting her. Vocaloid is a program that allows anyone to use it's voice to put their ideas, dreams, and stories to the world. Maybe it's miku fans who doesn't appreciate music and just watch the videos because of the moe-ness of miku? I could agree there are tons of creative music from vocaloid, however, that creative music comes from the fans, their creativity and their soul. Vocaloid is just a blank painting, it's the fans who paint over it and give it shape, maybe that's the essence of the fakeness of Miku Hatsune and half of the pop starts, they're just a product, and the art comes from a different source The main difference is Miku doesn't have a heart on her own, nor even a body on her own

I thought the article was well-written and it really showed how deeply deranged otaku culture is getting. Otakus suffer from deep sexual problems and the massive amount of porn both consumed and produced is a testament to how they spend all their time: masturbating compulsively.
