Tragic yet very common in Japan, to be honest I believe the people of Japan need to do something about the child and parent barrier, the kid was simply a lost child that thought suicide was the answer as many Japanese do.

Some would blame it on Anime and others on video games, some say the solution to all this is faith (believe that whatever you want you’ll get it in the life after) others say its needing a purpose in life, I believe it’s a bit or both, I would implement a religion, ether an already established one or a new one that says if one was to commit suicide the life after would be a painful one, after that address other issues, (ask the lord of your wants and you’ll get it in the life after) all that remains after that is a goal in life and a mentor, oh and good parenting to implement the religion at the root of the child’s childhood. If anything at the lest you’ll reduce the suicide rate

Well, it's not that Japanese cops don't have guns, they do, it's just not EVERY cop has them like in America. Only "Specially certified" officers or Detective's can carry gun's. The rest have to make do with those collapsible batons and whatever martial arts they know (if any). This works because of Japan's very strict gun law's (namely that citizens can not legally posses a handgun) so most criminal's don't use them since the only way to really get one other than stealing it from the cops or JDSF would be to smuggle it in, and that means it'll would be ass expensive. A kendo stick or baseball bat are way cheaper and much easier to buy.
