The main difference I found between the Japanese and the chinese cosplayers is the chinese ones just seem to be showing off how “pretty” and “good quality” they can make their costume. I couldn’t rally tell if they were cosplaying because they love that anime and character or just wanted to show off. To me they just seemed like models hopung to attract otaku attention.

With the Japanes ones, they are amazing and I can really tell they are enjoying what they are doing as well as the fact they love the anime. No matter what face or body they have, they just dress up to have fun. And there sure is a lot of variety of faces and body type which I like (sorry, all the Chinese girls looked same to me.)

I might be saying this because the photos of the Chinese ones were obviously bias (mostly pic of pretty girls) but I like the Japanese one better.
