  What I noticed is he become a hiki at 12. Shouldn’t some sorta of social services intervened at that stage when he disappeared from school? Yes the US has it’s flaws but if a 12 year old stops showing up at a school and locks themselves in their room it is something of concern and the government will intervene if necessary. I think this is just the latest symptom in a broken system that offers little to no help for mental illness as this seems to happen a little to often in Japan.
