actually, the game was a technical failure. it was made on the crystal engine (ffxiii). which had severe limitations as far as what a mmo platform requires. on top of that, square-enix outsourced the programming to a chinese company. all of this was covered on sankaku and other sources.

so instead of throwing the entire project away, they’ve rehauled it. thank god too, because ffxiv 2.0 sounds really promising (because the new producer has decided to re-do the entire game with his own vision while keeping player input in mind).

  The original comment is really all there is to say about XIV; we’ll have to wait (again) and see. SE seems to have a “too big to fail” model for XIV though, which is almost certainly doomed to failure. Regarding VII, it was an excellent game. The late 90′s hit that sweet spot of gaming as a whole. These days everything just feels like “content” and the actual games themselves aren’t very engaging. The sense of discovery is gone.

  Jesus, it’s all about butthurt here, isn’t it? FF7 was an average JRPG. The story itself isn’t that special, but you know what? I still had fun playing it. So, just because someone else’s opinion is different from yours doesn’t mean you have to bash them or try to start an argument with them.
